Sustainable Island Partnerships | Climate Resilience & Biodiversity Advocate | 20+ Years Global Experience

As part of the UN DESA Global Policy Series, we were part of a session on Partnerships for SIDS. Partnerships for, with, and in SIDS remain a high priority as reflected in the SIDS4 Draft Outcome and in preparation for SIDs4 in Antigua and Barbuda in May. The session below included summaries on partnerships for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digitalization, Climate Finance and Higher Education, and SIDS. The second panel focuses on the practice of partnerships with examples from the Governments of Cabo Verde and Solomon Islands, Global Island Partnership, OECD and Belau Association of NGOs (BANGO, Palau) My key takeaways: Leadership and political will is important Trust is key Measuring progress and impact is critical Needs to be people-centered  Thanks to our UNDESA Colleagues Ola Goransson and Sai Navoti Local2030 Islands Network Global Island Partnership (GLISPA)
