Thank you so much to Tom Chance and the team at National CLT Network for the fantastic event on Friday. One person commented that it was exciting to see how many are now coming and how much bigger the event was compared with your last one. Your hard work is working! Very glad also to have the opportunity to catch up with Levent Kerimol, Paul Regan, Colin Glen, Dave Smith, Steve Lee, Jon Lee, Debbie Wildridge, Kennett CLT's Robin Swanson and Lynne McCallum, and to hear from the amazing East Cambridgeshire District Council's Anna Bailey. Sorry to miss Michelle Huggins... Two pleas from me: 1. to local authorities and other public landowners, please recognise that putting sites out to community groups for formal tender isn't required and doesn't make sense if the groups are a vehicle for the local community. Just let the community groups present to Cabinet and tell your officers to work with them; and 2. to lawyers who have devised mechanisms for ongoing price restrictions and community reallocation rights, please get in touch with me and compare notes. Do we need a Lawyers Supporting Community Led Development group? I'm so glad that National CLT Network's efforts secured community scheme exemptions from the Leasehold Reform (Ground Rents) Act 2022 and the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024 ban on leases of freehold homes, but how much money do we need to budget for getting the court certificate? Are The Labour Party really intending to remove those exemptions? Commonhold doesn't have the flexibility to meet our permanent discounted price and reallocation demands.

Feeling inspired from today's wonderful Community Land Trust Network 'Building with Communities' conference. Lots of brilliant provocations I will pour into a blog over the weekend. Great meeting many colleagues and fellow practitioners who are deeply committed to this remarkable people powered sector. Sharing time with the old crew from community led housing london - Levent Kerimol Gemma Holyoak Rowan Mackay was really special. Top people .... Hats off to the wonderfully cool Tom Chance who was superb all day and to Beth Boorman Rachel Chance who delivered a superb event. Channel your inner goose ...

Thanks Kate. Oh, and I think we'll be able to maintain and strengthen those protections with the next government. Pennycook spoke up in favour of them in the bill committee.
