I did something for first time!!! I recorded a YouTube video!!! 📹 What happened with the UK strawberry vertical farm SMARTKAS? Financial & technical issues? I have quite sharp point of view about the TCEA strawberry🍓 industry, and I would like to start talking about it. But I did not want to be seen as I attack #SMARTKAS as this is not my aim. In private people know what I believe. What I want to achieve is to try to share the lessons learned and try to move forward, from the secrecy, NDA and numerous times reinvention of the wheel, towards more open conversations which include technicalities of how to grow strawberries in #TCEA or #verticalfarming, financial modeling, troubleshooting and much more. I hope you enjoy, it is not perfect, it has not been intended to be perfect (Someone says: "Start now, get perfect later"). A big thank you for those who help me to make this video!! You know who you are (❤️) SMARTKAS images are used with their permission.

I've experimented with 100's of thousands of seedlings before achieving success. The key insight gleaned from this journey is that the integration of natural sunlight alongside LED lighting is indispensable for sustainable and profitable strawberry cultivation in a CEA environment. Therefore, I offer this advice to those contemplating strawberry cultivation in CEA settings: it's a far more intricate endeavor than initially perceived. Careful consideration and meticulous planning are essential before embarking on such ventures. Warm regards,

Good Video! Just some constructive feedback: 1. the adding of images and text in the video is good. 2. Try to make the music sound a little lower, to keep the focus on. 3. Turn off "Youtube for Kids", because this limits the subscription function, I can subscribe you, but will not be notified when you upload a new video, this is bad for reaching your audience, your subscriber. 4. Open the comment section, comments show the youtube algorithm, that your video is interesting and relevant to be discussed. 5. Utilize the comments, answer and ask questions to activate people interaction to get more feedback. Looking forward to see more :)

This case of SMARTKAS is very similar to that of this French company called Agricool. Both are investing too much in a very competitive production: strawberries. Today, those guys have seen the profit first before studying the market. But yes, vertical farming works and can be a good solution for some vegetables, fruits, or aromatic herbs. It depends on your market, location, and investment.

Katia Kouloumprouka Zacharaki Brilliant video 👌 I think the key take away is vertical farm business has to be market driven, and to make it work several disciplines have to work together closely.
