The non-alcoholic spirits category is building amazing momentum in the US. In fact, over Easter the non-alc spirits became the fastest growing category within alcohol. Sales were up a huge 101% YoY and growth was 3x faster than any other category! It's great to see non-alc spirits continue to gain traction amongst consumers, and what's even more impressive is that CleanCo continue to outperform the category so far in 2024! --- Source: NIQ Measured Off Premise Channels (Easter = 2 weeks ending 04/06/24) #nonalcoholic #nonalc #nonalcoholicspirits #drinksindustry

So,what will be legally compliant? Following on from the previous post, the previous UK administration have signalled that; · Flavours will be restricted to tobacco, mint, menthol and fruit. But the questions remain – does “fruit” mean “fruit” or defined flavours? Does that mean that as suppliers we are limited to 4 flavours, or can we offer different fruits? · Packaging – are we limited to certain colours or are we facing into plain packaging as per combustibles? · Replaceable coils – my personal view is that closed pod systems will be permitted, although there continues to be much industry chatter that we will need to offer replaceable coils, rendering many of the current 4 in 1s (for example) as potentially non-compliant. The new restrictions are still at select committee stage – there’s a way to go before they become law. Given this, it must also be noted that, with a change of government, select committee representations will also change – not only will there be a likely huge change in MPs but, by tradition, the governing party will have the majority on these committees. These committees will need to be established, convene, agree and recommend plus push the legislation through parliament and onto the statute books. All the while, we don’t have a confirmed date for consumers in England and the bizarre prospect of driving from Cardiff, for example, to Bristol to buy a disposable product! As manufacturers and importers, we need time and certainty to commit to packaging, device choice, and forecast volumes with our factories – and this is further exacerbated by the fact that most product is manufactured 000’s of miles away – and even more problematic given the longer freight times caused by issues in the shipping lanes, not to mention the higher freight prices. How do you manage a business with this lack of certainty? Yes, we need to plan for the end of disposables, but until we get further clarity, we’ll have to refer to Mystic Meg to know what to do next! At Bonfumo, we have an excellent network of international suppliers and in the short / medium term we look forward to bringing to market great new ranges of nicotine pouches, lighters and smoking accessories – great products, well designed and at superb value to the UK and Irish markets. Low and no-alcohol continues to grow significantly as a category. Market data shows that 35% of students are opting for low or no-alcohol alternatives. No-alcohol draught products are still very much in their infancy in terms of size and scale within the marketplace, however, the request for them is ever-growing. Premiumisation and quality over quantity continue to be the focus for brand owners. #lowalcohol #noalcohol #drinkless

Thank you BRĒZ, Aaron Nosbisch & High and Dry Ltd for for addressing this important issue. I've been curious why it seems the narrative focuses only on large cannabis MSOs as the enemy, while tiptoeing around the elephant in the room. The alcohol powerhouses are working tirelessly behind the scenes to undermine emerging hemp beverage businesses. Alcohol IS the enemy. If you think differently, that's cool too—I’d love an open dialogue to share perspectives. Living in Louisiana, I’ve had a front-row seat to how "Good Old Boy" networks, businesses, and politics operate. Being married into a family whose livelihood has traditionally come from bars and alcohol but now includes THC beverage sales, I have a unique perspective. When I say alcohol is the enemy, I mean the powerhouses, not the craft breweries, and not the alcohol points of sale like bars, restaurants, grocery stores, or liquor stores. Distributors have told us they can't carry THC beverages, only to confide, "We want to, but certain alcohol companies have threatened to pull their products if we do." THC brands have shared that they've been excluded from shows and events because "the largest sponsor (insert large alcohol company here) would pull their sponsorship dollars if we included THC, which would effectively cancel the event." I could go on for days about this. I’m working on an article that should address this more precisely and clearly than my 5 AM ADHD rambles ever could. My DMs are open to anyone who wants to chat more on this topic!
Brands that are challenging the 1.5 trillion alcohol industry. It is happening, albeit slowly, and from the other side of the Atlantic but it's coming. We've been following the BRĒZ story for sometime as they build in public. Earlier this year they reached $1million in sales.. definitely making them a brand to watch! One thing we're a fan of is that is they've set out to make alcohol their enemy. No sitting on the fence with moderation, they have a clear ENEMY, and POV that is both refreshing and clear. Founded by Aaron Nosbisch, they have an impressive team, including Avin Kline, Nick Shackelford, Preston Campbell, PhD and Travis Freedom. They're also supported by the Lucyd agency. We hope to see Brez in the UK soon. Until then we'll be cheering them on from across the pond 👏 To learn more about brands challenging the alcohol industry, download the report: https://lnkd.in/e6EZEufW (in partnership with KAM Insight) #highanddry #Brez #alcoholfree #nonalcindustry #alcohol
