From estimating projects and organizing data, to getting hands-on experience at RNG facilities, our #KeeleyIndustrial Heavy Industries interns have truly embraced every challenge. They've had the opportunity to see both sides of the construction process—working behind the scenes and then stepping into the field to see the projects come to life. Drake Keating from Missouri University of Science and Technology shared, "I've been estimating different projects and organizing data in the office and working onsite along side superintendents." Intern Hunter Zentner from West Virginia University added, “It was a cool experience to go from looking at the drawings in Canton to seeing it all come to life onsite in Jacksonville.” Our Heavy Industries interns have gained experience that will be instrumental in their careers, and we’re proud of everything they’ve accomplished this summer! #KeeleyBuilt

Senior Business Executive @ Mansfield Service Partners/Fleet-Lube | Bulk Fuel & Lubricant Solutions For The Commercial and Heavy Civil Contractor
Urban Infraconstruction LLC ; Investing for The Future to follow. As a parent of a son in his (near) mid 20s who has benefited from a Career Development Opportunity similar to this, I can personally say these opportunities that are surfacing at a rapid rate give legitimacy to the idea that beginning a career in the Construction Industry isn’t a fallback option and furthermore provides a sustainable career path that what some once considered/still consider a dead end. Traditional schooling still holds validity, I will never argue that. What I will say is that not everyone is cutout for “The typical”. I applaud 👏🏼 Urban Infraconstruction LLC and the many Universities & Players in this industry for opening a lane that has The World of Yellow Iron, Dirt, Concrete, roads, dams, bridges, etc. “sexy” once again. #careerinconstruction #uta #UTAArlington #internshipopportunities Justin Csader Urban Infraconstruction LLC #investinginthefuture

This week, we started with a study visit from the Construction and Technical Schools Group students in Stargard. Engaging with the younger generation is a cornerstone of our approach, and here's why it's not just beneficial but crucial for our business: During their visit, the students examined the intricate process of prefabricated bathroom production from the ground up. This wasn't just a theoretical lesson; the students stepped into the shoes of quality control inspectors, comparing technical drawings directly with the actual bathroom modules. This hands-on experience is invaluable for the students, who gained practical insights and skills, and our company. Why is this engagement so critical? Firstly, it bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application, preparing a skilled workforce ready to hit the ground running. Secondly, by opening our doors to these young minds, we're fostering a culture of innovation and fresh perspectives that can drive our company forward. Lastly, it strengthens our ties with the community, especially as many of our employees are proud Construction and Technical Schools Group alums in Stargard. We're not just investing in the potential workforce of tomorrow; we're actively participating in shaping it. This synergy between education and industry is where true innovation and growth lie, and we're excited to see where these bright young minds will take us in the future. See you at the internships! 🙂 #IndustryMeetsEducation #BuildingTheFuture #EcoReadyBath #CommunityEngagement

Friends and my education connections, my friend Matt has some info on a really interesting internship. For any college students who are interested in design and engineering, is definitely one you’ll want to take a look at. Comment below if you’d like me to make an introduction. #Engineering Summer intern #Design #Yosemite
Do you know someone currently enrolled in college that is interested in a summer job with Design and Engineering? Please share this announcement far and wide to students you may know. Previous interns have gotten to experience Yosemite in ways so may do not; from riding in a helicopter for back country waste, to backpacking to install urine diverting toilets, to hiking up Half Dome to get scans, the opportunities are incredible! 🌟 Intern Spotlight: Meet Phoebe Ellis! 🌟 We just caught up with Phoebe, one of our talented summer interns working out of our corporate office. Here’s what she shared: 🔹 About Phoebe: "I'm interning with the R&D department at the corporate office. I recently completed my second year at Georgia Tech, majoring in Civil Engineering. I’m also from Atlanta, Georgia." 🔹 Internship Experience at Schnabel: "My internship at Schnabel has been great! Everyone is kind and willing to share their knowledge. I’ve enjoyed visiting job sites, applying classroom knowledge, and working with fellow interns. I’ve been involved in micropile load tests at M&T Bank Stadium, job support for SOMOS and Eccles, and R&D projects like analyzing waterfront tiebacks, concrete maturity, and deflection of a hanging mast. This experience has been eye-opening and shaped my future career goals." 🔹 Most Important Lesson Learned: "The most important lesson I’ve learned so far is that it’s okay to ask questions or ask for help. I’m halfway through college, so I still have a lot to learn. Everyone at Schnabel is a great resource, and I need to take advantage of all the knowledge they have." 🔹 Free Time Fun: "I really enjoy being outside in the sun, whether hiking, running, or sitting in a park reading a book. I also love traveling, exploring new cities, and thrifting and sewing clothes." #InternSpotlight #SchnabelCareers #PrincipledProven

As we enter October, Careers in Construction Month, we applaud the professionals who play vital roles in building our communities and shaping our future. In construction, we begin by laying a solid foundation—just as we should with our students, giving them the tools and opportunities to build their path in the construction industry. It’s a myth that underrepresented inner-city youth cannot meet the rigorous demands of the ACED field. Our Youth Construct interns not only have the potential, but they’ve proven themselves in some of the most prestigious ACED organizations. Let’s celebrate #CareersInConstructionMonth by continuing to construct brighter futures for our youth! #ACED #InternshipsMatter #BrighterFutures #jobs #careers #AccessOpportunitiesAlternatives #communitybuilders

I was in my last class for the semester. We discussed ending our internships and starting the next steps in life, such as getting a job. 💴 My professor looked at all of us and said "Your boss shows you that they appreciate you by giving you a paycheck each week. 💜 I brought this story up at my recent workshop with Sweetwater Construction Corp.. In this workshop, we focused on gratitude and appreciation. We focused on how we are currently showing gratitude and appreciation to one another. 🤔 Out of a 2,000-person survey, 46% said they left their job because they felt under-appreciated. When we spoke about this statistic, at Sweetwater Construction Corp. they realized how they have the awareness and skills to show their employees appreciation. 💪 💛 💜 At the end of the workshop, we discussed different ways to practice gratitude in the workplace. Their workshop was followed up by individual coaching. Email: Jessica@JourneyToYourself.net https://lnkd.in/ePzXkc3s

On July 25th we hosted an event specifically designed to engage summer interns from local industry firms. LCI was excited for their own 2024 summer intern, Ryan Hydrick to participate and got his unique perspective. “This past Thursday, I attended the Lean Coffee and Intern Networking Event at Southland Industries in Dulles, VA. During the event, I worked with a team of three other interns to write instructions for building a tower with different shaped blocks based on a picture. Our task was to create instructions that anyone would be able to follow to build the tower. We deliberated within our groups and our instructions made sense to us. When the instructor took the picture away, we were still able to build our tower correctly. We then switched with another group, and had to rely on their instructions to build the tower. Because this group’s instructions were detailed and organized, our group was able to build the tower correctly, without the picture. However, the group that attempted to build the tower using my group’s instructions struggled. Our directions, while they made sense to us, lacked detail, and missed important information, mainly where certain shapes should be placed in relation to other shapes. The LCI Last Planner System® is a tool that helps establish a predictable workflow, and as writing the instructions for the block tower taught us, being able to illustrate how something should be assembled is crucial for the success of the construction team. Furthermore, the Last Planner System® is not simply a way to increase efficiency or output, but a method crucial for the successful implementation of any project. After the workshop, I talked to several construction and design interns about their educational and career goals, and how they view Lean principals influencing the industry for years to come. While my career goals may not align perfectly with the field of construction, attending this event was insightful, giving me a look into how Lean principals not only benefit the construction industry, but also how Lean principals can be implemented into any profession.” We thank Ryan for his participation in the event and openly sharing his experience! We also wish Ryan all the best as he returns his focus to pursuing his education at Hendrix College, in Conway, Arkansas.
