Being a Haitian CEO in Corporate America ! The challenges that Haitian companies face are stifling their innovative and financial growth. We are incredibly proud of a leader within our ownership group. Lisa Laronde, CPA, CMA is a mentor across the industry and to our own team. She doesn’t just show up for herself. She shows up for everyone else around her. An untapped opportunity exists in construction. To encourage more women to join the industry, we look inward to how we keep those that we have today. Only when we embrace a better environment for our existing employees to thrive, do we create an inviting place for more to want to join.  We are incredibly grateful for the traction that our future leaders are making today within our own organization. We just had to EKHO the amazing message coming from Tim Laronde, Lisa’s husband:                                                                                                                                                                                        "I am filled with immense pride and joy for my wife and life partner, Lisa Laronde, as she receives this esteemed award. Since embarking on her journey in the construction industry approximately eight years ago, I have witnessed her unwavering commitment and remarkable career progression. Starting out in the accounting department as a Controller, she has earned numerous promotions, ultimately assuming the role of President at RSG. In an industry heavily dominated by men, women account for a mere 13% of the workforce, with a scant 5% representation on job sites. With 46% of the industry set to retire by 2030 amidst rapid growth, the pressing question arises: how do we bridge this impending gap? Women's presence in construction not only highlights the industry's largest disparity but also presents the most significant opportunity. So, how can we seize this opportunity? One approach involves fostering a safer workplace environment for women by advocating for increased female representation in leadership roles. While there's a prevalent belief that operational experience and knowledge reign supreme in achieving leadership positions, I challenge this notion. Instead, I advocate for prioritizing the ability to run a successful business and empowering individuals with a focused energy on building strong teams to bolster employees' success. Many women possess these qualities yet remain underrepresented in leadership positions within the industry. To encourage more women to join the construction sector, it is imperative for men to actively support women with leadership potential. Rather than pondering how we can attract more women to the industry, our focus should be on retaining them. Enhancing women's representation in leadership roles stands as a significant stride toward this goal. My heartfelt congratulations extend to Lisa and all the other exceptional women leaders receiving recognition as one of “Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women”.

Balancing work and personal life can be challenging, and at times we may question if we're doing too much- Full time job, businesses, community service/sorority business, NJBWC, Raising two children and being a wife.
