Honored to have my DFM White Paper written at the The NCO Leadership Center of Excellence and Sergeants Major Academy “Force Management and Organizational Capability in Joint Base Religious Support” published by the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps Journal this month (pgs 18-23). Articulating this complex problem-set and generating a feasible solution is the result not just of academic research hours but years of practical experience both inside and outside the joint base construct. Bottom line: like mission command, “joint” can't mean whatever we want it to mean. Purpose and identity are organizational as well as spiritual values -and transformation shouldn’t ever be done in silos. Alignment and unity of effort are vital to MDO. My prayer is this article sparks much-needed conversation on an often-neglected corner of the Sustainment Warfighting Function: Spiritual Readiness and Title X Religious Support. #Humansoverhardware Pro Deo et Patria

Growing up, I wasn’t taught a whole lot about Black history in school. It wasn’t until my 20s, when I moved to Sierra Leone, that I started to comprehend how much of our history I had been missing.   Freetown in the 1990s was, in a way, the perfect place for me to learn about historical events that deeply affected the United States.   Not long after my arrival, I learned the story of the Amistad Rebellion; the story of 53 Mende captives who, in 1839, were forcibly enslaved and illegally shipped to Cuba.   After an endless, excruciating journey and being subject to severe mistreatment, the captives revolted, taking hold of the Amistad ship, where they were being transported. Without any navigation knowledge, the 53 depended on the remaining crew members to sail back to Sierra Leone but, in the hopes of being rescued, the crew members changed the route which led the ship to Eastern Long Island, New York, where a U.S. naval brig seized the unlawful vessel.   The African captives were then jailed and sent to Connecticut to await trial. Following a lengthy legal battle, the case was heard at the U.S. Supreme Court, and the captives were set free.   Unknowingly, they played a crucial role in galvanizing the abolitionist movement in the United States.   For me, discovering this piece of history while living on another continent underscored the importance of recognition within our borders.   History matters, and narratives like the Amistad Rebellion not only resonate globally but also contribute to fostering a culture of understanding and empathy worldwide.   #BlackHistoryMonth #BHM

## The Bravery That Comes From Humility: A Reflection on the Tuskegee Airmen **In a world that too often confuses bluster with bravery,** the story of the Tuskegee Airmen stands as a testament to a different kind of heroism. These extraordinary men, forced to endure a despicable "experiment" even as they served their nation with honor, teach us a profound lesson about true leadership and the quiet strength that comes from humility. **C.S. Lewis, a keen observer of human nature, once wrote, "Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less." ( paraphrased)** The Tuskegee Airmen, denied the basic respect they deserved, channeled their frustration not into self-pity or anger, but into an unwavering focus on their mission. **Micah 6:8** instructs us to "do what is right, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God." The Airmen embodied this perfectly. They did what was right by defending their country, showed mercy by rising above prejudice, and walked humbly by prioritizing their duty over their egos. **Their focus wasn't on themselves or the injustices they faced, but on the men they flew with and the mission they were entrusted with.** In their quiet dignity and unwavering dedication, they redefined what it means to serve. **Leadership is not about rank or title,** it's about inspiring others to rise above and fulfill a greater purpose. The Tuskegee Airmen, through their courage and humility, demonstrated the very essence of leadership. They serve as a beacon for all of us, reminding us that true strength lies not in self-promotion, but in service and selflessness. **#TuskegeeAirmen #Humility #Leadership #CSLewis**
