🌍 is your Nation or Community prepared for Disasters? 🌪 Unrest? or Crisis? ⚔ Every year, we witness communities enduring the same devastating disasters: earthquakes toppling structures, floods sweeping everything into the ocean, hurricanes tearing homes apart, wildfires engulfing everything in their path, and pandemics leaving thousands homeless and without resources. Let We Earth assist you in organizing your community for relief. Our platform digitalizes your community's disaster response efforts, ensuring swift and effective aid when it's needed most. How does it work? One of the registered leaders of your community can create a disaster relief prompt. They'll give it a specific name and describe the process for providing assistance, creating a standardized method for attending to people's immediate needs. Once completed, the relief dashboard will appear on the community page. Here, people can state the type of aid they need, whether it's electricity, medical assistance, food, psychological support, housing, or water. Individuals can add themselves to the relief lists and access more information by clicking the info button. They can also locate safe zones, send distress calls, and report emergencies related to the disaster. Digitalize yourself and your community today at weearth.co.za By doing so, you ensure that you're counted and aided when disaster strikes. Don't wait until it's too late—take action now with We Earth. #DisasterPreparedness #CommunityResilience #WeEarth 🌍

While we can't predict when natural weather disasters will happen, we can help equip your community to be prepared when disaster strikes. Some of our greatest testimonies and representation of successful community impact and solving post recovery challenges come after disasters like tornados, flooding, and hurricanes! 🌪️ We help unite agencies with a common focus - meeting needs while keeping volunteers and agencies on the same page in real-time. ⏰ Our "Outcomes" feature allows you to set goals to help bring people back to self-sustainability after a disaster. These goals can be measured and shared between agencies to focus on the essential post-recovery assistance. My thoughts and prayers are with those in the surrounding states dealing with natural disasters. From Iowa floods to Ohio tornadoes and severe storms in Indiana, the challenges are immense. Early in my career one of my first department manager roles was at the #Menards in Bloomington, IN (Monroe County). This area is experiencing local disaster due to severe storms that wreaked havoc last night. I understand the impact of such disasters and how crucial it is to prioritize disaster preparedness both professionally and personally. In times of crisis, remember you are not alone. Assistance is available for recovery and relief - reach out to FEMA and the American Red Cross for help. Funds are often allocated to all individuals in a declared disaster area, regardless of the scale of impact. Recovery is a gradual process with no set timeline. As a leader, support your employees by listening to their experiences, offering encouragement, and guiding them towards necessary resources, including mental health support. Effective communication with customers is also vital during challenging times to foster understanding and maintain transparency. You may be working to serve them with only a skeleton crew. Communication with customers is key, so that they understand what is going on and how you are dealing with it. They are more likely to be reasonable and understand. Have you faced a local disaster recently? Share your experience and how you overcame the challenges. #DisasterRecovery #SupportLocalCommunities #FEMA #RedCross

September is National Disaster Preparedness Month, what's your shelter plan? In some emergencies, staying put is the safest choice. Know your best and safest options BEFORE you need to choose. 🛟 Identify safe shelter locations both at home and in your community 🏠 Know where the safest spots are for natural disasters like tornadoes, hurricanes, or earthquakes (e.g., a basement, an interior room with no windows) 👮 If shelters become necessary, local authorities will inform you where to go And remember, threat levels can change quickly during a natural disaster. ALWAYS plan for multiple scenarios and options. #DisasterPreparednessMonth #DisasterPreparedness

❗ New blog 📰 from Team IEM! Check out the details ⤵️ With the increase in frequency and severity of disasters, communities across the nation face devastating impacts from wildfires, hurricanes, tropical storms, tornadoes, earthquakes, and severe winter storms. 🔥🌀⛈️🌪️💥❄️ After a disaster hits, survivors are vulnerable as they face the uphill task of recovering and rebuilding their homes and lives. FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund (DRF) is meant to help the process – and yet the DRF is currently in Immediate Needs Funding status, lacking the funds to ensure speedy recoveries for affected communities. Team IEM Senior Executive Advisors and former FEMA officials, Elizabeth Zimmerman and Edward (Ed) Johnson, shed light on the status of the FEMA DRF, how the current limitations affect community recovery nationwide, and the urgency of replenishing the DRF to maximize recovery efforts. ✨ Read the 🆕 blog for more insight: https://lnkd.in/erVJZjZe #TeamIEM #IEMblog #IEMnewsroom #FEMA #DisasterRelief #DisasterReliefFund #disasterrecovery #emergencymanagement #disastermanagement #INF #ImmediateNeedsFunding #hurricaneseason #wildfires #disasters #flooding #recovery #FEMADRF #DRF #disasterrelief #disasterfunding #disasterresponse

Dynamic Education, Governance, and Development Specialist Driving Transformational Development and Resilience in Public and Humanitarian Sectors
The heavy rains keep coming, causing severe floods in our communities. The effects are getting worse day by day across the frontier counties. Entire villages and towns are under water, forcing thousands of families out of their homes. The powerful flash floods have destroyed roads, bridges and other important facilities cutting off remote areas from help. The most heartbreaking reports are of people, including children and elders, who have lost their lives to these deadly flood waters. The memories of those tragic losses will stay with us long after the rains stop. However, even in this difficult situation, our communities are showing great strength and unity. I am deeply inspired by the acts of courage from families hosting displaced neighbors, to volunteers using small boats to get people through and out of the flooded areas, risking their safety. These are the unsung heroes we must appreciate and support. As partners working for sustainable development, we must act urgently to prevent and reduce such disasters.Investing in effective disaster preparedness plans, flood protection infrastructure, climate change adaptation and early warning systems is more crucial than ever before. If we fail to take strong action, this cycle of vulnerability will continue. In this crisis, I urge all stakeholders government, development agencies, private sector and communities to combine efforts for immediate humanitarian relief and long term resilience measures. Only by working together across all sectors can we overcome the threats caused by these natural disasters. Many people have lost their homes, belongings, and livelihoods, and I can only imagine the pain and hardship they're experiencing. In times like these, it's important to come together as a community and offer support to those in need. If you're able to consider donating to a reputable charity or volunteering, your time and generosity will make a real difference in the lives of those who have been affected. #nairobirains #floods
