🚨**Attention Everyone:**🚨 Please remember, guns should not be used to celebrate—they are dangerous firearms, not toys or fireworks. Do not use them to mark your 4th of July festivities tonight. Your children are watching, and the example you set matters greatly. Please, just don't do it. Kids, if you see an adult with a weapon tonight, stay back, walk away, and find a responsible adult immediately. It's never okay to handle a weapon while you are joking, drinking or being silly. GRASP is genuinely concerned for everyone's safety tonight. Celebratory gunfire can lead to deadly consequences and is classified as deadly conduct, a Class A misdemeanor. Be safe RGV! Have a safe and happy 4th of July! #GRASPCARES #safetyfirst #gunsafety #gunawareness #responsibility #wecan #safety #kidpower #knowledgesaveslives #gunresponsibility #parentscare #nochances #beaware #knowmore #graspit #besmart #nomore #nonprofit #domore

I celebrate anyone and everyone compassionate enough to take action against gun violence. And while I applaud BBH's intentions and efforts, I challenge them and YOU to do more. So, what can YOU do about it besides #RepostYourRage? Visit https://lnkd.in/gEpXD73B for a full list of supporting links for the following: 1.EMPOWER YOURSELF with a deeper understanding of the issues, policies, and opportunities for improvement. Gun nuts and political stooges rely on logical fallacies, one-off anecdotes, and cognitive biases to argue against life-saving solutions. But the data and empirical research is clear; smarter gun laws are proven to statistically reduce gun-related violence and homicides. Arm yourself with the facts. 2.HOLD YOUR POLITICAL REPRESENTATIVES ACCOUNTABLE. Make your voice heard at all levels of government. Message, email, call, write letters, show up in person, and demand policy change. 3.VOTE in primaries, mid-terms, and general elections. If our elected officials don’t take immediate action, then we need to seat representatives who are genuinely committed to enacting smarter gun laws and saving lives. 4.JOIN, SUPPORT, & DONATE to non-profits promoting change. National organizations and local chapters publish newsletters, share resources and regularly host events. Grab a friend, make a pledge, and get involved. 5.VOLUNTEER locally. It’s understandable why mass shootings grab national headlines, but gun violence exists in many forms: gang violence, domestic violence, veteran suicides, etc.. Find a cause and organization near you. Your time and presence are just as valuable if not more so than financial contributions. 6.EMPATHIZE. Humanize the victims and embrace compassion for their families. No one that blindly advocates against smarter gun laws has this ability; thus, it is our competitive advantage in this fight for change. Fred Guttenberg lost his brother to the 9/11 attack and his daughter in the Parkland School Shooting. Check out his book, Find The Helpers, a moving perspective on recovery, purpose, and hope. 7. RECRUIT YOUR SQUAD. We are stronger together. Find and embrace the family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues who share your compassion and drive. Motivate, collaborate, and mobilize together. You can start by inviting your network to join or start a local chapter with you. 8.DEFEND THE TRUTH. The NRA has a large majority of the GOP in their pockets, and together they have attempted to obfuscate the reality of this very real and deadly public health crisis. Armed with memes, tweets, and other bullshit talking points, they have poisoned so much of the conversation on this topic and convinced far too many that this isn’t a problem that they have the ability to fix. It’s time we ALL stand up to their nonsense and call out bullshit when we see it. NOW is the time to #Educate #Advocate #Donate #Volunteer and #Vote
It’s an election year, every candidate needs to know we will be voting for gun safety. Join the movement and #RepostYourRage. Donate, support and visit marchforourlives.org

Down to 23 days and counting
Hello everyone, we are now on the 30 day countdown before we re-deploy back to Ukraine to continue our work with the National Police Of Ukraine EOD department. We would like to ask anyone or any department across the US with any EOD, demining or trauma medical equipment that is no longer in use and can be donated to the Police EOD department to please reach out. We will be leaving Salt lake on the 5th of February so we still have time to arrange moving stuff around the US. If yourself or your department have a large amount of excess equipment that can be donated, we can arrange to ship it out separately. If your department needs paperwork from the National police of Ukraine to release equipment, this is a strait forward process. Any and all items are welcomed, from the smallest donation of say, a mine probe, HAL kit, kit bags and pouches etc. right up to Suits, robots, access kits etc. We can not stress more that the kit you may have gathering dust can make a meaningful purpose in Ukraine. The Ukrainian police face a mammoth task ahead of them, facing wartime clearance operations every single day. Thank you for your time, Christopher Garrett Chairman Prevail

When the Wright Brothers made the first powered flight in 1903, it's easy to imagine how many people were skeptical or even fearful of the new technology. Similarly, when the first automobiles hit the roads, reactions were mixed—some were excited about the new possibilities, while others were concerned about sharing the road with these machines. With every technological advancement, there is a spectrum of responses, from resistance to enthusiastic embrace. Self-driving cars are just the latest frontier. Like past innovations, they hold the potential to significantly alter our lives, promising increased safety and efficiency on our roads. As history shows, skepticism often gives way to acceptance as the benefits of new technology become clear. I personally am looking forward to the potential of self-driving technology to reduce roadway fatalities and collisions caused by distractions or impaired driving. This technology is still in its infancy and faces challenges, including driving reliability, cybersecurity, and overall safety. But like all new developments, we face a choice: to stay ahead of the curve or fall behind. Embracing this change can lead us toward a safer and more efficient future. The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) #driverless #automotivesafety
This week's MotorPro Weekly excerpt busts common automated vehicle myths, from self-driving denial to terrorist hacks. “It’s clear that many people are still not sure whether self-driving vehicles will be safer than human drivers, and don’t know whether they will improve travel or who will benefit most,” concluded the 2021 Myth-Busting Self-Driving Vehicles paper Brake, the road safety charity. Explore the myths here: https://okt.to/4svUM7. #MotorProWeekly #AutomatedVehicles

We keep reliving an old American horror story. This time in Winder, GA. Many of us have become desensitized of this topic: either due to the relentless continuity of these events, or because this issue has become needlessly politicized. However, no parent should outlive their children due to such senseless violence. I hope the latest school shooting is met with solutions, not words. This is not an attempt at fear-mongering. As a parent of high school kids, each of these events strike too close to home and it is especially frustrating when politicians declare that now is not the moment to talk about guns, and instead just share "thoughts and prayers" for the victims and their families. If you, like me, are interested in taking action, I'd like to suggest a couple of options. I'm on the board of this amazing org called New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, and there are two concrete ways you can do something about this issue (links in comments): 1) Make a donation. Your (tax deductible) gift will fund educational programs at NYC public schools. Every bit helps. 2) Attend our benefit in NYC on October 8th. I'll be there! And I'd love to sit with you, share more about the org, and introduce you to the team. Let me know if you buy a ticket so I can put you at my table :) Thanks for reading through this, and I hope you do elect to take action - whichever way you can. #StopGunViolence #SafeSchools #ActNow New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Rebecca Fischer Rachel Peck Caitlin Semo Kevin O'Brien, CFP®

3moIn the United States, about 695,000 people die from heart disease each year, which is about 1 in every 5 deaths. Maybe we should be supporting sensible menu item caloric value restrictions as well?
