That’s why we're joining LifeCenter Organ Donor Network to become #bettertogether — and why today, we’re announcing our new name: Network For Hope! As Network For Hope, we’re committed to leading innovations in organ procurement and transplantation, and we're still as deeply rooted in respect for donors and as driven by a mission to transform lives as we've always been. Doctors always prioritize saving your life, and organ donation is only considered after all life-saving efforts have been exhausted. Two doctors not involved in transplantation must declare death before organ donation can proceed. Let's spread the truth and encourage more people to register as donors. How amazing is the power of umbilical cord blood??! Umbilical cord blood is a beautiful source of blood stem cells that can be collected at the time of birth with no risk to the mom or baby. This blood can then be processed and stored for use as a stem cell donor for patients needing a bone marrow transplant. It is especially important for those patients who can not identify a suitably matched related or unrelated donor because it offers access to a life-saving bone marrow transplant when the patient needs it most. Access to cord blood donors helps make sure that today, there is a blood stem cell donor for nearly everyone who needs one! #donorforall #cordblood #cordbloodtransplant
Elliott's journey to transplant is a powerful reminder that you're more powerful than you think. When you donate your baby’s umbilical cord blood, you give hope to patients like Elliott, whose care team found a cord blood match for her.
