Very interesting idea. Certainly other industries have different pricing based on levels of business and availability. Is it time for the restaurant industry to adopt “surge” pricing? What other industries could\should consider this ? Thoughts? #restaurants #pricing #businessmodel
I get the concept behind surge pricing, and I think attractions do it well. I cannot imagine how a family budgets if everything moves to surge pricing.
I refused to pick up Wendy's for Uber Eats because they are slow, rude, and the cashiers want the drivers to fill drinks. I'm not too far off from never visiting again if this goes nationwide. And with Uber, the benefit of surge pricing is that if you can afford to pay more than another rider you get quicker service. With Wendy's, you get zero benefits
They have had ‘surge pricing’ for years. It’s called ‘early bird specials’, ‘happy hour’, and ‘late night menu.’
Wow. That’s interesting. If they take the prices down during slower times and balance it out during peak times, I can see this maybe working but it’ll be very interesting indeed. My feeling is it will be regular pricing and surging it from there. Fast food pricing is already out of control so we will see

8mo1. Pay your employees at a higher level to provide better service. 2. Make service/menu/quality upgrades that are worth paying for. 3. It’s Wendy’s. Why would I pay more for absolutely no change in service, quality, menu, etc? Just because it’s lunch time? I dunno. It might work but I’m so tired of the customer paying more for less and employees bearing the brunt of bad policies.
