At ECCO Medical, we understand the time constraints that often prevent patients from seeking necessary medical care. Studies show that up to 40% of people avoid treatment due to lack of time ⏰ ❌ That's why our outpatient treatments offer a convenient solution. Our procedures are quick and can often be completed in just a few hours, allowing patients to get back to their daily routines. With minimally invasive techniques, the recovery time is short, typically just hours instead of days⏳ 👀 The benefits of outpatient care go beyond convenience. Patients experience less pain, scarring, complications, and hospital readmissions compared to inpatient care. Plus, outpatient procedures are more affordable, making quality care accessible to more people. At ECCO Medical, we're proud to offer efficient and effective treatments that cater to busy lives. Don't let time constraints hold you back from getting the care you need 💙💪

As the patient's last station after a long day in the hospital; medication counselling is rather be passed over in the pharmacy. Working in outpatient hospital pharmacy for three years has allowed me to easily embed counselling in my service despite disregard. These are summarised points on how to overcome different barriers and deliver counselling effectively: Informing patient of time taken in advance simplifies and eases out the process, asking the patient to explain to you how they take their medication provides you a brief of what they know, grabbing their attention by throwing one tip out will get them intrigued to know more, and lastly prioritise your counselling into one to three indispensable tips would save time.

Co-CEO - The GBA Healthcare Group / Head of Healthcare Investments - Chow Tai Fook Enterprises / HKGCC China Committee Chairman / Value Based Care
On December 18, 2023, GBAH signed the Strategic Collaboration Agreement with the Futian Government, Shenzhen, to help develop the value based care model in the Futian District. GBAH is honoured to be entrusted with such an important mission to help build a future ready healthcare system for Shenzhen. Shenzhen is unique on many fronts. Many people know of Shenzhen as a tech hub, a well funded local government and a local government that invests heavily across transport, education and healthcare for its 22m+ Shenzhen people. There is a famous saying of “來了就是深圳人”,which translates into “you are a local Shenzhen-er once you arrive here”. Shenzhen’s demographics is therefore quite different from other cities within the GBA, in that most people come to Shenzhen to make their living and head back to their home town after a while. However, as years go by, many people have chosen to stay in Shenzhen for good. This means that the Shenzhen government is now increasingly looking to plan ahead to offer fit-for-purpose healthcare services to its ageing population. To achieve such long term goals, the Shenzhen government also realises that they cannot “kick the cans” down the road and just keep building more expensive hospitals. Instead, there must be a drive to develop value based care to ensure the long term sustainability of the healthcare system. VBC requires innovation across preventive care, primary care and new ways to actuarially price health insurance products, where insurers and reinsurers need to start thinking about how to combine outpatient and inpatient services under one roof / product. This has in fact happened for the public health insurance side already, and we think the private health insurance sector will play catch up soon. Exciting times ahead as we all reimagine how to build a suaintable healthy future together! The GBA Healthcare Group 大灣區醫療集團 @valuebasedcare
On December 18th,the GBA Healthcare Group and Futian District,Shenzhen, signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly establish the “Shenzhen-Hong Kong Collaborative Integrated Cross-Border Medical Alliance.” This aims to further enhance the cross-border two-way referral network, promote the in-depth development of cross-border medical services, and facilitate the implementation of “Value Based Care”in Futian. Prior to this, the two parties had trained 100 GOLD-certified family doctors and nurses, and established 18 Hong Kong-style GOLD general outpatient clinics to provide high-quality medical care for residents in both Shenzhen and Hong Kong. #GBA #GBAHealthcare #ValueBasedCare

This legislation could have a significant impact on #hospitals and is well worth the read. This also can have implications for #healthcarerealestate. Quote: "Under Medicare, hospital outpatient departments receive higher reimbursement than independent physician offices and ambulatory surgery centers for providing the same care. Hospital-owned clinics can also charge additional facility fees to cover what they say are additional overhead costs, resulting in higher co-pays for patients. Recently, some lawmakers on the Hill have reinvigorated efforts to enact site-neutral policies, where government reimbursement is the same for the same medical care, regardless of where it’s delivered." #medicalrealestate #medicaloffice

Even Doctors Like Me Are Falling Into This Medical Bill Trap https://lnkd.in/ebyWASfT As of 2022, federal law protects patients from surprise bills if they are unknowingly treated by out-of-network doctors. But there is no federal protection for patients who are unknowingly treated in higher-priced hospital affiliates that look like normal doctors’ offices or urgent care clinics. Federal regulations are needed, at the very least, to require facilities to be upfront with their pricing scheme — and more ideally, to eliminate this price differential entirely. Otherwise patients will continue to face unexpected high bills that most can ill afford. Hospital outpatient departments, or HOPDs do some of the same outpatient care — colonoscopies, X-rays, medication injections — just as doctors’ offices and clinics do. But because they are considered part of a hospital, they get to charge hospital-level prices for these outpatient procedures, even though the patients aren’t as sick as inpatients. Since these facilities don’t necessarily look like hospitals, patients can be easily deceived and end up with hefty financial surprises. #hopd #hospital #outpatient #urgentcare

When even #HCPs face #surprisebills & challenges managing #healthinsurance, you know it's time for even more legislation to close the loopholes. After a visit to #urgentcare, an #HCP was charged $1,168 for a few x-rays which normally cost $100 per x-ray. Why? #Urgentcare was charging hospital pricing because the center was hospital-affiliated and as such, is allowed to charge hospital prices. This is a lucrative corner of the #healthcare market called hospital outpatient departments, or HOPDs. They do some of the same #outpatient care — #colonoscopies, X-rays, medication injections — just as doctors’ offices and clinics do. But because they are considered part of a hospital, they get to charge hospital-level prices for these outpatient procedures, even though the patients aren’t as sick as inpatients. Since these facilities don’t necessarily look like hospitals, patients can be easily deceived and end up with hefty financial surprises. #buyerbeware #surprisebills
