This is a sequal to my previous post on identifying recruiting scams🚨 Let's all face it, I know I'm not the only one seeing a huge influx of companies trying to hire "Freelancers" for Corporate positions that require full time work, with no company benefits 🚀 What makes these jobs different then Freelancers projects or contracts❓ 📌They require FIXED HOURS and timezones in which you'll need to work, many times on-site or under monitoring if remote. 👉🏻Freelancers however, should have the liberty to work with their own comfortable schedules given they deliver quality content before deadline. 📌They use the umbrella of OUTSOURCING to exploit freelancers with full time work of a corporate 9-5 indivisual. 👉🏻This way they can ESCAPE the obligation of providing added bonuses or benefits that an office employee receives like health insurance and paid vacations. (Exceptions are always there) 📌What to do in this case❓ Your actions are highly dependent on your preferences. If you as a freelancer want to hop onto an undercover-corporate job, Go ahead. 👉🏻But I believe it was crucial to highlight these key differences for the beginners in the field and prevent them from exploitation. Last year, I received an offer for a permanent job after 2 years of freelancing, and I instantly rejected it. Here's why… The company advertised: - Fully-remote role in Europe - Agile & progressive company - Competitive package & benefits - Opportunities for career progression But instead, they offered: - On-site project in London - 3.5 hours of daily commuting - A buddy to help me ‘set up’ - Discounts for pizza & gym - Statutory benefits - A 3-stage interview process taking place over 4 months - A 'competitive salary' that was 60% lower than my annual income as a freelancer (and they were aware of my fees!) The debate is not about: freelancing vs. permanent job remote work vs. on-site role It's about the inaccurate information posted on job adverts or shared with candidates to attract top talent, but then offering packages with mandatory obligations that were not previously disclosed or aligned with initial discussions. For companies advertising positions or headhunting, please ensure that the information provided is accurate and aligned with the actual job requirements. #freelancer #recruitment #ethicalrecruitment
