DNP, RN, CNRN, SCRN I Driving growth through clinical education I Raising the profession of nursing through media engagement
Most people are not familiar with different types of #nursing roles. It is our responsibilty as #nurses to educate people on what we do. #clinicalnurse #nursingroles #nurseadvocate
Hospital #nurse: When out in public, rather than refer to yourself as a “floor nurse” or “staff nurse” use “clinical nurse” and mention what type of department you practice in. Give examples of the types of patients you care for. Example: When asked what you do you might say, "I'm a registered nurse. I practice as a clinical nurse on the neurology unit. I care for people who have had strokes and brain trauma." This is more descriptive and less generic. If you're a case manager (or other position where 'nurse' might not automatically be part of the title) be sure to introduce yourself as a 'registered nurse case manager' and in a sentence describe what you do. There is power in words. This is one way to advocate for yourself and the profession as well as promote the diversity and depth of our role. #NursesOnLinkedIn #NursePower #nurse

Nursing Staffing Coordinator Supervisor / Nursing Recruiter / Home Infusions/ Rare Diseases / Gene Therapy / Specialty Pharmacy
As a Nursing Staffing Coordinator, I was responsible for sourcing nurses for high-tech pediatric home infusion cases across the nation and our territories. The infusions, ranging from 2 to 10 hours weekly or bi-weekly, necessitated a careful matching process to ensure that nurses were ideally suited for each case and family they would serve, always considering the family's preferences. Understanding the gravity of having an unfamiliar individual administer infusions to a child or a family member, I have always prioritized finding the right fit. Finding the right fit is more than just a matter of comfort; it's essential for the patients' and nurses' safety. My advocacy for nurse safety was relentless. I made sure they were thoroughly briefed and equipped for their cases. A successful infusion requires more than just technical skill; it requires comprehensive knowledge of the patient's needs and conditions and the necessary supplies. It was a consistent effort to ensure our nurses were never in the dark, as being well-informed is the foundation of trust for patients and their families. It's critical to give nurses accurate patient information and supplies to provide the highest standard of care. Making assumptions about treatment specifics, such as between a PORT and a PIV, is not acceptable. Concealing patient information from nurses out of concern for acceptance signals that further investigation is necessary to match the proper nurse to the case. I had nurses and home health agencies decline cases because they felt uncomfortable or unsafe about the case, and as it saddened me, I was thankful because they cared about the patient's safety rather than taking money and seeing what happens. My ultimate goal is to protect both nurses and families, fostering an environment of transparency, safety, and the highest quality of care. *My dedication to creating a safe, transparent environment where nurses can thrive, and patients receive the best possible care has been the cornerstone of my career. I am actively seeking a position where I can apply my expertise in nurse staffing coordination and patient advocacy, continuing to make a meaningful difference in the healthcare industry. If your organization values a steadfast commitment to quality care and innovative staffing solutions, I would be thrilled to discuss how my experience and passion can contribute to your team's success.* #healthcareinnovation #patientcare #homeinfusion #nursing #productmanagement #careeropportunities #networking #nursingcommunity #specialtypharmacy #homecareservices #nursestaffing #patientsafety #homeinfusion #pediatriccare #healthcarecoordination #nurseadvocacy #qualityofcare #healthcarerecruitment #patientcareadvocate #specializednursing #infusiontherapy #nursingchallenges #safestaffing #healthcareleadership #protectnurses #specialtypharmacy #hightechinfusions #genetherapy #raredisease

What does nurse advocacy look like? The recent gathering at the Ohio Statehouse has continued a vital conversation about the challenges nurses face in the workplaces. As nurses, we understand the complexities of this issue and the need for a nuanced approach to finding solutions. 👨⚖️ Article here: https://lnkd.in/gTsnziUr Tristin Kate's story serves as a poignant reminder of the immense pressures and struggles many nurses endure. Tristin's suicide underscores the urgency of addressing nurse burnout and ensuring safe working conditions for all healthcare professionals. 😔💔 House Bill 285, The Workforce and Safe Patient Care Act, proposes increasing nursing staff to establish safer nurse-to-patient ratios, aiming to alleviate some of the strain on nurses and improve patient outcomes. It's not perfect but many call it a step towards providing much-needed support for frontline workers and enhancing the quality of care. 💼💉 However, I know we need to recognize the diverse perspectives within the nursing community regarding the best approach to tackling these challenges. Some nursing leaders advocate for broader systemic changes, such as revising nursing reimbursement models, implementing nursing STEM designation, utilizing nursing NPI numbers, and emphasizing value-based care delivery. 🔄💡 The ongoing discussions on LinkedIn reflect the complexity of this issue, with varying opinions and viewpoints. It's crucial to engage in these conversations with an open mind, acknowledging the valid concerns and considerations on both sides. 💬🌐 At the heart of this debate lies the well-being of nurses and the patients we serve. The staggering statistic that 1 in 8 nurses are contemplating suicide due to current conditions is a sobering reminder of the urgency of action. 🚑 🤝 As nurses, advocates, policymakers, and influencers, we have a responsibility to come together and explore constructive solutions that prioritize the health and safety of both nurses and patients. Your voice matters in this conversation. Share your thoughts! We deserve a healthcare system that values and uplifts the incredible contributions of nurses everywhere 💪👩⚕️ #nursingcommunity #healthcaredebate #patientcare #nursewellness #nursingadvocacy #nursinglife #healthcarepolicy #nursingsolutions #mentalhealthawareness #workplacesafety #nurseadvocacy #patientsafety #housebill285 #healthcarereform #nursestaffing #nursesonlinkedin #hopsitaleadership Ohio Nurses Association American Nurses Association American Organization for Nursing Leadership Bureau of Labor Statistics National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) Haraz N.
