In case anyone thinks this isn’t the ‘proper’ sort of content for LinkedIn: This happened in a ‘workplace’. 💔 It’s truly despicable but let’s be clear: It’s not a case of one ‘bad apple’, it’s part of the systemic, routine violence and abuse towards animals in the ‘food’ industry. This poor dear animal, who’s been named Olivia (although the industry labelled her number 8416 – which shows you that she’s just a commodity to them) was trapped inside a crate in a piggery in Victoria, Australia and r*ped for 5 minutes by a male worker. This sweet living being’s life was already utterly miserable by being kept in a crate so small she can barely turn around. The piglets she gave birth to were taken from her and killed. And on top of all that, she’s suffered through a violent s*xual assault. On Monday the ABC 7.30 Report reported on this and other horrendous acts of violence that take place every minute in the industrial animal industry, thanks to the brave and fearless work of Farm Transparency Project who bring this reprehensible, unconscionable reality to the public eye. Nothing good happens to animals who are exploited and commodified and ‘humane meat’ is an oxymoron. This is why so many of us are working to make animal-free innovations in food and other areas the norm. If you want to stop this violence, remove animals from your plates and join the #vegan, #plantbased and #alternativeproteins industry. As for Olivia, there’s a petition to Midland Bacon to release her to Peanuts Animal Sanctuary where she can live free and be loved and cared for. While people often understand the cruelty involved with chickens and zoo animals, many don't realize the suffering linked to milk production. People assume milk is vital for us and that cows don’t suffer when we milk them. However, like any mother, a cow produces milk only for her calf. The dairy industry involves significant cruelty. Cows are forcibly impregnated, and their calves are taken away, often leading to immense stress and suffering for both. Male calves are typically slaughtered, as they don't produce milk. Remembering #mothersday for all species please… Maybe this isn’t clear: 🐮 #cows don’t give #milk just like that - as women neither - they need to get pregnant before (by violent fertilization due humans*) and give #birth to a #calf. After that we separate and kill their newborn to drink/consume the milk or any #dairy product which is infact the #nature product for the #babycow. 💡-> So why should it be wise to consume something which isn’t made for our body? We don’t have #lactoseintolerance - it’s just because we aren’t a #baby cow 🐮 (or baby 🐑 or baby 🐐) - quit simple! 💡Quintessence: If we don’t drink (don’t need) anymore our mother’s milk 🤱, because it is physically not necessary anymore, so why we consume still the mother’s milk from another species? And why we complain about (and die because of) #heartdisease, #highbloodpressure, #gastroenteritis, #arthrosis, #antibioticresistance? Our words shape our attitudes, and the language used and the contempt shown in this video is a clear symptom of a deeper problem: the failure to acknowledge dairy cows as sentient beings deserving of our respect. The lives of dairy cows are dedicated to generating income for farmers and providing valuable nutrition for consumers. However, videos like this pose a risk to the industry by unfairly tainting all dairy farmers with the same brush. Fostering a community among all dairy farmers that prioritizes compassion, education, and accountability for animal welfare is essential.
