The Canadian Centre for Alternatives to Animal Methods (CCAAM), Canada’s only centre for animal-free testing is at risk of closing without urgent government funding. Public feedback on Health Canada’s new strategy to end toxicity testing on animals is open—we're urging Canada to invest in cruelty-free science! 🧪🐰

Kaitlyn Mitchell, our director of legal advocacy, speaks with Global News Winnipeg about the urgent need for changes to Manitoba’s rental laws that would remove barriers for tenants who live with companion animals 🐱 A severe shortage of pet-friendly housing in Manitoba is forcing families to make the heartbreaking choice between securing a place to live or keeping their companion animals, leaving local shelters overburdened 🐶💔 Ontario’s Fluffy’s Law, passed in 2010, was a game-changer for tenants with companion animals (the vast majority of Canadians) by voiding no-pet clauses in leases. While Manitoba considered adopting similar legislation, there was strong opposition from landlords, & the law never passed. #MBPoli

Today is Reptile Awareness Day. Reptiles are sensitive & intelligent beings, each with complex needs that captivity simply can’t fulfill. Whether brutally taken from the wild or bred in captivity, reptiles endure immense stress & cruel conditions during transport & confinement, often resulting in high mortality rates. It’s time to end the exotic pet trade! 🦎💔
