Over the past month, I've dedicated time to reflect on and define my company's core values. Here’s my draft list (with one borrowed from Brené Brown) — I’d love to hear your thoughts: Integrity We believe in courage over comfort; choosing what is right over what is fast, easy, or fun; and choosing to practice our values over simply professing them.   Growth We believe in continuous growth, both for our clients and ourselves. We strive to constantly learn, adapt, and evolve, ensuring we provide the most effective solutions. Collaboration We believe in the power of collaboration. By working together, both within our team and with our clients, we harness diverse perspectives and expertise to achieve the best outcomes. Empathy We believe by listening to our clients and colleagues, we build stronger relationships and create solutions that are deeply aligned with their needs. We recognize and respect the importance of past and present challenges, never discounting anyone’s experiences. Trust Trust is the foundation of our relationships. We build and maintain trust through transparency, reliability, and ethical practices, ensuring our clients and partners can always depend on us. Agility We pride ourselves on being flexible and responsive, ready to pivot and adapt to new challenges and opportunities as they arise. We strive to be easy to work with, maintaining open communication, a collaborative spirit, and a customer-centric approach. Humility No one is above the work that needs to be done. We approach every task with humility and a team-oriented mindset, recognizing the importance of every role and the contributions of all team members.

Recently I was challenged to articulate my company's brand values. My initial thought? Integrity. The moment the thought entered my mind, I quickly dismissed it. So generic. Plus, isn't that what every company would say (the fast and easy answer). But I love how Brené Brown defines it. Especially her challenge to PRACTICE values versus simply professing them. Over the next few weeks, I'll be diving deeper into defining my company values in a way that truly reflects the brand. I'd love to get your insights to fuel this process. Just like the quote says, every time we engage with our team members, we make that promise of value—whether it’s through support, recognition, or simply listening. And this value we promised is one that needs to be continuously earned and renewed. To keep that “relationship currency” strong, it’s important to be consistent in making sure your team feels understood, validated, and cared for. Every interaction counts. If we neglect this, the value we’ve built can quickly diminish. To start with, Here are my key points from the presentation by Susan Pearce AM. Susan was so real and generous with her insights and story telling and I have to say that Susan's presentation was one of my favourites :) So here goes: We don’t fall upward; Stop second guessing yourself; Own the decisions you make; Back yourself; Deal with the issue, not the person; Sometimes you need to stop for a minute, take a breath or a moment then come back to it; We have the power to help people feel safe when they are scared; Build relationships; Acknowledge unconscious bias; Be your true self; Stay on the course; Care and resilience is critical; Being across your own subject matter is crucial; Be honest, have integrity and authenticity. Finally, Susan shared the difficulties around assumptions that leaders shouldn't be emotional and how she was told that being emotional was her greatest strength and greatest weakness. As someone who is emotional, this really resonated with me knowing that showing emotion means you are human and lead from the heart and then we can then be judged for showing emotions - in essence, judged for leading from the heart and being human.
