From Bikes to Blenders: Students at the University of Pennsylvania are reimagining engineering education for sustainability! On the final day of the American Society for Engineering Education #ASEEAnnual Conference, Dustyn Roberts PE, PhD shared a work-in-progress paper highlighting a project funded by an ASEE-EOP Mini-Grant. In her presentation, Dr. Roberts underscored the need for students to engage in some way with the community around them. Her paper tackles two key challenges: Integrating #sustainability into existing courses and creating entirely new courses focused on sustainability within #engineering. By utilizing the EOP Framework, student engineers at the University of Pennsylvania will graduate equipped to solve real-world problems and with a focus on environmental and social impacts. Their whole systems mapping approach is critical for designing sustainable solutions that address the needs of the present without compromising the future.
