Hey there, everyone. Brendan here again, and I wanted to share something very personal to me. April is Autism Acceptance Month, and today is a particularly important part of that, as it is Adult Autism Awareness Day. I wanted to talk a bit more about what my diagnosis and the effects of my condition mean to me as a member of the workforce, as a student and as the son of two brilliant entrepreneurs and employee of two more. Read about that and more here in my latest blog: https://bit.ly/3U2ijps

Professor of Autism Studies, Birmingham City University, Clinical Psychologist at Studio3 Training Systems
Distorted Thinking and Prediction Errors I have had many conversations with my colleague Peter Vermeulen about #stress, #trauma, and what could be described as #autistic thinking. The ideas that Peter promotes apply well beyond the field of autism. How many times have we misunderstood a situation, or experienced the stress of our own catastrophic thoughts? This event is designed as an all-day seminar where practitioners, people with lived experience, and families can come together to really think about the chaos experienced by the people we support. If we can help people to navigate some of that chaos, that will ultimately lead to improving people's #wellbeing and #mentalhealth.
Live Conference Event | Birmingham, 11th December 2024 Are you a professional or parent in the UK who wants to learn more about autism and the predictive brain? Join world-renowned expert Dr Peter Vermeulen for an enlightening full-day seminar! Early bird tickets are on sale for a limited time only, secure your place now: https://lnkd.in/ecQtt7Tx

Proud Dad moment! Any of you that know me for a while know that my oldest Son Shane hasn’t had an easy road. He has battled through Congenital heart disease and numerous open heart surgeries. Shane is on the Autism spectrum and struggles with anxiety and sensory issues but has persevered. He recently published his first book. A story of a young man with Autism and a deep faith that details some of the challenges he faces every day. I enjoyed reading every page. A great read for anyone with friends or family that deal with these challenges on a daily basis. Super proud of Shane. “Normal Outside Battle Inside” is available on Amazon. Congratulations Shane!! https://a.co/d/htg58P9
