On 4 October, Kingfa and China Renewable Resources Group signed a cooperation agreement. 👏 👏 👏
This strategic cooperation agreement marks the start of a new chapter in resource recycling cooperation.
We will be committed to the construction of professional technology platforms and output results, and promote the development process of the global circular economy by cooperating with more ecological partners. 🌍 ♻️
The UK and Norway are both world-leading within renewable energy solutions and both have ambitious plans to reduce domestic emissions drastically over the next decade.
Today our Prime Ministers announced a new Green Industrial Partnership which will see enhanced UK-Norway cooperation on clean energy innovation. The Partnership – which will be signed next year – will put us on track to make the UK a clean energy superpower by 2030 while accelerating the journey to net zero.
At the Northern Lights JV facility, Prime Minister Keir Starmer saw first-hand Norway's world-leading work on CCUS - an area in which 🇬🇧 has ambitious plans.

UK should lead by example, but #ccs with offshore storage is fine, but the issue remains it is a financial drain on the Government and hence taxpayer or industry and hence the customer. Keir Starmer and Cabinet Office should also think of #ccs that makes valuable products from waste (C-Zero Ltd) and #ccu that creates food and chemicals from #co2 (Algae Products International) as part of the overall strategy. Carbon capture has a critical role to play in delivering a clean power system - and the Green Industrial Partnership announced between the UK and Norway can help to accelerate its deployment, boosting economic growth and supporting a just transition.

This is what happens when Governments are hijacked by 'Vested Interests'. Political short-termism in the form of 'fossil fuel based' construction activity in the 'North East' to placate the sentimentalism of the past might of Teesside's chemical and steel history.
But let's examine what's really going on here in this first 'tranche' of supposed 'Net Zero' activity.
Gas fired (fossil fuel) power production with carbon capture and storage with an initial CO2 capture rate of 4 million tonnes of CO2 / year.
Where in the world has CO2 capture and storage been successful at this scale?
Answer : Nowhere.
And the Equinor press release is suggesting a ramp up to 23 million tonnes CO2 capture / year by 2035!!
These proposed systems are technically unproven at scale. They are expensive to build and expensive to run, based on the ACTUAL operating experience of 'others', where storage rates of the order 1 million tonnes CO2 / year have been achieved.
Let's be clear, this is a small (in terms of real required CCS rates), first of a kind, desperate attempt to promote a technology that will keep fossil fuels in the energy mix.
Who benefits financially?
Equinor through the sale of Norway's natural gas as a fuel for the power plant and for the parasitic energy load of the carbon capture plant.
bp through the sale of the electricity produced.
The process DOES NOT BREAK THE LINKAGE between fossil fuel price volatility and the cost of power!
So will the power produced be cheaper?
Answer: Absolutely not, unless the Equinor gas is sold at a price far below the 'market price' for gas. So, is this the Equinor offer? Better ask Mr Starmer or Mr Milliband.......but I vey much doubt it.
So who will pay for this 'punt' on unproven at scale, expensive electricity?
Yes, as always, the UK consumer.
Are there better strategic alternatives to produce power that don't involve continued fossil fuel combustion?
I think we all know the answer to that, but the short term imperative of politicians and 'vested interests' is very hard to counteract.
Money is still more important than the honest 'energy' conversation that Governments worldwide need to have with their citizens, as has been shown by the latest series of COP meetings.
The UK taxpayer does not need to be burdened with the unproven at scale, expensive and failed ideology of CCS being peddled by the fossil fuel industry.
There are better 'proven' options.

Carbon credits are tradable permits that allow companies to offset their carbon emissions. One credit equals one ton of CO2 reduced or removed, supporting eco-friendly projects like renewable energy and forest conservation.
🌐 A sustainable partnership:
CarbonHood has teamed up with Redbelly Network and our company Blubird to tokenize an initial 950 million tons of carbon credits, valued at approximately $70 billion USD. This is the first step towards a monumental goal: bringing an asset book worth $2 trillion USD on-chain by the end of 2025.
