Just placed a Senior Financial Analyst who told me that what they appreciated most about my help was that I never 'pushed' them to accept the offer. Too often, recruiters see candidates as numbers rather than individuals making important decisions about their careers, financial futures, and personal lives. I’ve seen firsthand the risks of pressuring a candidate to accept an offer instead of allowing them to arrive at the decision independently. This approach usually leads to uncertainty, potential counteroffers, delayed start dates, or worse—a short tenure where the new hire leaves soon after starting, or even early termination. None of these outcomes serve the candidate or the employer well. When it comes to something as important as a new career move, it should feel like your decision—one made with full confidence, not because someone else is telling you to take it. In fact, when people feel pressured, they often question their decision even more.
