The design process for housing and residential architecture plays a transformative role in redefining living spaces to better suit the rhythms of modern life. As architects and designers, we should focus on creating homes that offer an elevated quality of life. By integrating principles of microclimate control and landscape layering, we can enhance natural ventilation and reduce heat gain—strategies particularly effective for India’s varied climates. Sustainable materials that work harmoniously with the environment further reinforce the focus on climate-responsive design. At GPM Architects and Planners, we are redefining residential architecture by providing residents with a community-centric design featuring accessible green spaces, pedestrian-friendly pathways, and community spaces that strengthen social ties. We are shaping spaces that promote sustainability and belonging through carefully chosen materials and flexible spatial planning. #ResidentialArchitecture #Sustainability #CommunityDesign #HousingInnovation #HousingDesign #GPMArchitects

Check out this gem!
The Haddon Heights Municipal Building is more than just a cornerstone of the community. It’s a slice of architectural history! Nestled at the corner of Station Avenue and 7th Avenue, this mid-1960s marvel stands just outside the town’s historic district. But don’t let its location fool you, this building has its own story to tell. Check out those arched pillars! Back in the day, they were the essence of modern design and they still make a bold statement today. Created during the Thomas, Kolbe, Thomas era of the firm, this building is a proud piece of VISSI’s history (VISTORY). #architecture #architecturehistory #design

As part of a design competition for a new pavilion for Brent Cross Town, one of Europe’s most ambitious regeneration projects, Marjoram Architects proposed a vision centred on community, education, and sustainability. The concept embraced: A Cluster of Mini-pavilions: Integrated into the natural landscape, these pavilions featured biodiverse green roof terraces, offering unique vantage points and blending seamlessly with the surrounding park. A Dynamic Gridshell Roof: This sweeping, translucent structure not only provides shelter but also acts as a focal point for social interaction, creating a vibrant hub within the park. Sustainability: Using rammed earth and timber construction, the pavilion was designed to achieve net-zero carbon and energy targets, adopting a cradle-to-cradle material philosophy. Community-driven Design: Local schools and community groups were central to the vision, with opportunities to actively participate in the design and construction process, making the pavilion a truly collaborative and educational experience. The design sought to create a space where people could connect, learn, and thrive while promoting sustainability and celebrating the unique character of the area. In a rapidly evolving urban landscape, the importance of community-centric housing design cannot be overstated. As architects, we are responsible for creating spaces that foster inclusivity and a sense of belonging. Designing housing beyond individual units to incorporate shared spaces, such as gardens, courtyards, and communal areas, is critical to nurturing vibrant communities. These spaces become the heart of urban neighbourhoods, where residents can interact, collaborate, and build lasting relationships. By integrating thoughtful planning, pedestrian-friendly zones, and versatile recreational areas, we can transform housing developments into dynamic ecosystems that prioritise human experiences, where people can feel connected and engaged. This approach is essential for creating thriving urban communities — where everyone feels a sense of belonging. #UrbanDesign #CommunityLiving #HousingDevelopment #Architecture #UrbanPlanning #GPMArchitects

In recent decades, there has been a trend in architecture of returning to traditional architecture, while adapting it to contemporary building materials, modern lifestyles, and contemporary design styles. The result is buildings with a local appearance, adapted to their environment in terms of construction style, and influenced by the local construction method in terms of the use of building materials and traditional building principles. But they have all the modern equipment and systems, such as electricity, mill, sewage, communication, that exist in the 21st century. Most of these buildings also have the intention of green thinking and optimal utilization of energy and recycling. They are a new interpretation of the concept of 'traditional construction' www.efratmeiri.co.il #efrat_meiri #israeli_archtecture #newarchitecture #new_house #green_architecture #betterliving #betterhomes
