In "Audacious Goals, Remarkable Results: How an Explorer, an Engineer, and a Statesman Shaped Our Modern World," David Hirzel and his co-author explore the decision-making processes of three historical figures: Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Theodore Roosevelt, and Roald Amundsen. These leaders, despite their different backgrounds and professions, shared a similar mindset in overcoming challenges. Their achievements, including Brunel's engineering feats, Roosevelt's creation of national parks and the Panama Canal, and Amundsen's exploration of the Northwest Passage and the South Pole, were characterized by bold decisions, detailed knowledge, firsthand experience, and quick, effective decision-making.
