🌍 Embracing Diversity 🌈 Every year in May, European Diversity Month is celebrated to highlight the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and in society. At Knorr-Bremse we believe in fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. As we celebrate Diversity Month, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a workplace that embraces people from all walks of life. Our holistic diversity strategy underscores our commitment to equal opportunities and inclusion at all levels. 👉 But to move forward, you also need to focus. We’re currently concentrating more strongly on specific dimensions of diversity: As many employees will retire in the next five to ten years, the dimensions of #AgeAndGeneration as well as #Internationality require our special attention in 2024. In an engineering-driven environment, we also continue to focus on #GenderDiversity, which has been our focus dimension since 2022. In celebration of Diversity Month, we would like to share details about our focus areas and the actions we have planned. 🌍 Celebrating Inclusion Week! 🌍 Inclusion Week will take place this September, bringing us together to celebrate diversity! This year's theme is 'Impact Matters,' and it's a great reminder of the importance of the change we can bring to our workplaces and communities by encouraging inclusivity. Every action, no matter how small, contributes to creating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Myself and my colleagues recently got together to share something related to our own cultures. We shared stories about our history and heritage, different cultural celebrations and even exchanged some traditional (and tasty) recipes from around the world. It was a great experience to increase our cultural intelligence, see things from different perspectives and truly understand the 'impact' of making everyone feel included. Here are some ideas for celebrating Inclusion Week and embracing cultural differences with your colleagues: Create a cultural 'potluck' where everyone shares a traditional recipe dish from their heritage, offering a delicious way to experience different traditions. Initiate "culture chats," giving each person the opportunity to share and celebrate their unique backgrounds. Set up a shared cultural board or digital space where everyone can post photos, articles, or stories about their cultural traditions, festivals, and experiences. 🎉 We have been getting ‘InspireD’ during Global Diversity & Inclusion Month On the 9th of October, we kicked off Global Diversity & Inclusion Month with our ‘InspireD’ session featuring Anna Parker about Developing Cultural Awareness. Our ‘InspireD’ sessions are 60-minute TEDtalks based on topics important to us and aligned to our Core Values. This session proved instrumental in enriching our #cultural awareness, a theme close to our hearts. 🎙️ What did our employees tell us? 💡 "I learnt how to deal with colleagues from across the globe and how to make others feel more comfortable. Global Diversity Awareness Month is celebrated in October, and we marked it at Bitly by getting together to reflect and take action as a company. Every weekday in October, the DEI team and Allyship ERG shared an Act of Inclusion to prompt our employees to reflect, discuss, and take steps in our continuous journey of supporting our diverse workplace by being more inclusive.
