Cybersecurity has become the fastest growing tech occupation in the UK, according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS), with the number of roles more than doubling since 2020. With growth of 128%, this puts it ahead of IT support, which showed growth of 42%, IT trainers at 33% and IT business analysts, architects and systems designers, also at 33%. However, while rapid growth in the cybersecurity profession should be a cause for celebration, research from Socura warns there’s still a marked shortage of staff, with only one security professional for every 86 UK companies.

🤔 How and why can 42 help with Cybersecurity❓ Cybersecurity professionals are vital to the tech world and demand for them is only going up each year. Today, there is a significant shortage in these workers, leaving companies lacking proper cybersecurity personnel. This past April, the World Economic Forum came out with a Strategic Cybersecurity Talent Framework to address this very issue. Here’s what we learned: ⚡️ There is a shortage of nearly 4 million positions in the cybersecurity industry at this time, leaving companies vulnerable. ⚡️ An estimated 91% of organizations are willing to pay for the training and certification of their employees, however 80% of cybersecurity professionals would prefer to choose their own training programmes. ⚡️ In the under-30 age group, women represent only 26% of the cybersecurity workforce. For age groups 30–38 and 39–49, women account for only 22% and 14% of cybersecurity professionals respectively. ⚡️ 56% of cybersecurity leaders have difficulty retaining qualified cybersecurity professionals Companies need Cybersecurity professionals. 42’s revolutionary peer-based approach to learning provides an ideal environment for future cybersecurity professionals to train and grow by encouraging students to push beyond their limits, unleash their potential, and make use of their creativity! 🚀 42 teams have also been working closely with different cybersecurity companies to craft our current projects in the field, ensuring that our students come on the market with relevant knowledge. 💡 ➡ Make sure to check out the WEF's document here: https://lnkd.in/eZ9mFTyt #42Network #Cybersecurity #WorldEconomicForum #Born2Code Sophie Viger Grégoire Martinez Simone Abbou Véronique da Costa Thierry Barbaut Raphael Misrachi Cesar MIGUEL Wielfried André Olivier CROUZET
