I worked every second of the day last Thursday. And yet, when the clock struck 1am and I couldn't do anymore, I still beat myself up for not getting done with everything on my to-do list. On Friday I made a decision. I will now onwards plan and visualize what my ideal day should look like. Very realistically, I'll set goals for myself daily. And the important part: If there is pending work even after I've stuck to my plan, I will be proud of myself for sticking with it. I am making a conscious decision to stop falling under the weight of my own expectations. 3 days back I had to say no to a dream client because of this decision. Do I regret it? Absolutely not! I will no longer bite of more than I can chew. To a lot of you, this post may not make a lot of sense. But to all my workaholic buddies out there, you feel me don't you? Reflecting on my past experiences, especially while working in the automotive and corporate sectors, I vividly remember the intense pressure during month ends. The hustle and bustle of closing sales, balancing budgets, and ensuring revenue targets were met made it an incredibly challenging and demanding time. However, it also taught me valuable lessons about resilience and determination in the face of deadlines and expectations. Fast forward to my current journey with THE RAINBOW MIRACLE 🌈✨, and the contrast is striking. Here, month end is a time of tranquility and peace. There’s no overwhelming pressure or stress, just a serene flow guided by a divine energy. It’s a unique experience, unlike anything I’ve encountered before, where work is seamlessly aligned with a sense of purpose and spiritual connection. As we bid farewell to another month, I’m grateful for the opportunity to share these reflections with you. A catch-up with a friend reminded me of my corporate days. I'm not proud of it but there was a phase when I went very unhappily to work every morning. I stayed an hour or two extra and returned home feeling dirty...like putting up an act just for money. I approached those after-office hours as if my summer vacations had just begun - immerse myself in movies to forget my reality. This unpleasant cycle repeated for days, months, years. It was a stupid bind - me thinking I was doing this for my family and my family thinking they were doing it for me. The truth was I had no guts to take the responsibility of my life. And then came the knowledge of therapy and self-introspection. I HAVE THE POWER TO CHOOSE and I CHOOSE RESPONSIBLY. I LOVE and VALUE MYSELF, MY GOALS and ASPIRATIONS. With that began my new phase when I had a purpose to my corporate work. I used it as a blessing (and very responsibly) for my long term goal. I was PRESENT in office. I contributed to my team efforts. I led initiatives. I was a reliable team-mate to my management. Not a word about this from me to anyone. But suddenly my managers loved me, respected me, valued me and I joined the heart of the team. That is the beauty of self-work. Note from Vanessa: I often hear clients saying we should start immediately. To not wait for the perfect moment. And this is how I ended up here at TAS. I hadn't fully recovered from a Brain Injury when I came for my first-ever Group Interview. Do you want the truth? I didn't get the job then, But that didn't stop me. My hero's journey can be summarized as "Here I am, now." But I don't believe a hero's journey improves after ONE SINGLE pitfall. Come on, it is life, right? I've fallen many times since I've started my journey with TAS. Luckily, I did not have a physical fall again. But with time, I realized I wasn't as fully recovered as I wished. And I had to learn how to let go of perfectionism, And what I had planned for myself again with my career. As a mum, that doesn't surprise me; we often have to put a pause in our lives for others; if I have to take it slow for my own good, fine by me. But you know what is cool? It is to see how everyone around me here at TAS has learned to respect my timing, reminding me not to take myself too seriously and saving me from stretching myself thin again. Or even better, they tell me when to stop and go home. To spend time with my family. The way we look after each other here at TAS makes all the difference. My transformation story might not be as straightforward as it should be. I feel lucky enough to be where I am and have people that care.

Recently, I spoke to an ex-colleague of mine who has moved from India to the Netherlands. From the conversation, here is what I found: In the Netherlands, once work ends at 5 pm, you cannot schedule a meeting for the rest of the day. People there are really protective of their personal time. They take their time commitments seriously. If a task is assigned to someone, he/she gets it done in the time allotted. On time. His team rarely gets any escalations from management or customers. I reflected upon this and realized that in India, we have an exactly opposite culture. It’s acceptable to get a call from the boss even at 8 or 9 pm in the evening or on weekends. Sometimes, it is even used as a flex that the team worked until 2 am in the morning fixing an issue. When working on cross-functional tasks, people need multiple reminders before they get things done. Here is what I learned from this: When you know that you can sit in the office late, you will get things done late. Which means, most of the time, working long hours do not have a direct correlation with how much work we can get done. We just expand the work to fill the time given to complete it. Thinking About your To-Do list is actually more tiring than actually doing the work. How To Get things Done; ➡️Keep your priority list short ➡️Be ready for surprises and additional work showing up( a team members absence or your maid didn't show up) ➡️Take a short break when, while switching tasks ➡️During these breaks, tell yourself that you have the capacity to get things done, your Anxiousness with work is sprouting from your own Imagination
