Honored to represent the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change and British Chamber of Commerce Vietnam this week at the VIR Sustainable Development Forum, where we discussed pathways for a more sustainable Vietnam. Grateful to VIR for the recognition award, which highlights our strong partnership and shared commitment to Vietnam's green transition. Key Takeaways from the Forum: Dual Transition Approach: Emphasis on the need for Vietnam to pursue both digital and green transitions in parallel to drive sustainable economic growth. The dual transition model was highlighted as crucial for aligning with global trends and meeting international standards. Green Finance as an Enabler: Green financing remains a critical factor in supporting Vietnam’s sustainability goals. Discussion centered on the importance of creating financial structures, like green bonds and loans, to fund environmentally friendly projects. The government’s role in incentivizing these financial products was noted as essential. Regulatory and Policy Gaps: The forum spotlighted the need for a more robust regulatory framework, including the introduction of a green taxonomy to standardize sustainable investments. Clear guidelines will help attract private sector investment and build confidence in green finance. Private Sector’s Role in Sustainability: There’s a growing recognition that the private sector must play a key role in achieving Vietnam's ambitious targets, such as the net-zero emissions goal by 2050. Panelists discussed initiatives to foster greater engagement from businesses, especially through education and awareness-building for SMEs. Learning from Global Models: As Vietnam advances in its green economy efforts, lessons from other countries were shared. Examples from Germany and India underscored the value of training, non-financial support, and regulatory consistency in supporting SMEs’ green transformation. Thanks to all the organizers and participants for the engaging and insightful discussions. Events like these are vital for forging the partnerships and strategies needed to achieve a resilient, sustainable future for Vietnam. https://lnkd.in/gYZPDrxU #SustainableDevelopment #GreenFinance #Vietnam #TonyBlairInstitute #BritishChamberOfCommerce #VIRForum #NetZero2050 #GreenEconomy

Test your knowledge: What years did the first European digital agenda cover? There is no doubt that digital transformation is one of the priorities for countries, and the European Union established an early framework for action. 🌍 Currently, work is underway on the second European digital agenda, but in what period was the first one developed? 📅 - From 2000 to 2015. - From 2005 to 2020. - From 2010 to 2020. - All options are incorrect. ❌ Note: Digitalization and emerging technologies are fully integrated into the European agenda. However, the definition of the initial steps is based on the so-called Lisbon Strategy from the year 2000. The implementation of the first European digital agenda was set from 2010 to 2020 and focused on technologies serving people, a competitive economy, and an open and democratic society. In 2021, this strategy was complemented by the Digital Compass 2030, which details the current digital objectives of the EU. 🚀 #LaborSafety #WHS #OSH #WorkplaceSafety #OSHInnovation #SDG9 🔒👷♂️🛠️

The Potential Of Innovation Contests In Articulating Demand For System-Level Transformation! I.Missions New challenge-oriented innovation policies, like missions and transformative policies, emphasize addressing societal challenges as a rationale for public intervention, contrasting with earlier policies focused on economic growth and competitiveness II. Demand Articulation Demand articulation is crucial for translating such normative policy-led goals into demand for innovations, motivating actors to develop solutions for societal issues III. Innovation Contests The study reveals that innovation contests may articulate local needs for system-level change while supporting the scaling of solutions to other contexts, mediating between general sustainability goals and specific technology investments IV. Helsinki Energy Challenge The analysis of the Helsinki Energy Challenge demonstrates how an innovation contest could articulate demand for local system change while supporting solutions' scalability. These findings inform innovation policies aiming to establish directionality across governance levels Check out the article by Matti Pihlajamaa and Ville Valovirta at VTT here: https://lnkd.in/dp_Ptx3Q #innovation #missions #publicprocurement #systems #systemschange #policy
