A new partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Argonne National Laboratory and local miner Talon Metals Corp. is looking to extract iron from nickel mine tailings in a bid to increase domestic battery production. Speaking with Mining Magazine, Albert Lipson, group leader, separations and bioprocessing at Argonne said: "Talon is trying to set up a nickel mine in the US. And what they find is that they have alot of iron [waste] that they can use in LFPs, which contain iron and need a high purity source of iron. Essentially, the goal of the project is to figure out how to get that iron instead of it being waste." Viking Mines has successfully completed a Pit Optimisation Study on the Canegrass Battery Minerals Project Mineral Resource Estimate with; 61Mt at 0.81% V2O5, 35.9% Fe, 7.6% TiO2, 714ppm Cu, 687ppm Ni & 177ppm Co Inferred (JORC 2012) Pit constrained MRE. #VKA has selected the Base Case scenario at a 0.7% V2O5 processing cut-off as it considers revenue from both the #Vanadium and #Iron from the Project, which is supported by the current level of metallurgical testwork completed and the results achieved. Viking Mines has completed an updated JORC (2012) Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) report for the Canegrass Battery Minerals Project in Western Australia. The MRE has proven highly successful, with a 103% increase in the contained V2O5 to 2.2 Billion Pounds within the total MRE (>0.5% V2O5) of 146Mt at 0.70% V2O5, 31.8% Fe & 6.6% TiO2. Significantly, a high-grade subset of the MRE contains 27.5Mt at 0.87% V2O5, providing the basis to move forward and commence with a Scoping Study on the Project. The opportunity to produce a direct ship Iron Ore concentrate from the Project with credits for #Vanadium content to be investigated by the Company. Conifer Systems has created a solution that can tackle the specific challenges that come with high-volume, low-concentration ventilation air methane applications. The solution, called Aeros MineOx, is designed to provide high thermal efficiency and low pressure drop. It enables autothermal operation within the range of 0.2% to 1.2% methane concentration by volume. Western Exploration (TSXV: WEX; OTCQX: WEXPF) reported positive results from 2024 metallurgical testing of the Gravel Creek deposit, specifically from the Jarbidge District of Elko County, Nevada, USA. Highlights: * A 94.8% gold and 89.8% silver recovery achieved through combined gravity and flotation methods. * The gravity and flotation concentrate represented 10.9% of the feed weight, with high grades of 57.1 g/t gold and 1,725 g/t silver. * Gravity concentration recovered 22.4% of the gold and 4.4% of the silver with high-grade concentrates. Critical Metals ups stake in world’s largest rare earths project to 42%  - Europe-focused Critical Metals Corp (Nasdaq: CRML) said on Tuesday it has completed Stage 1 of its recently announced plan to acquire a controlling interest in the Tanbreez rare earth project in Greenland from Rimbal Pty.  - Tanbreez has been ranked the largest rare earth deposit in the world, hosting 28.2 million tonnes of total rare earth oxides (TREO) in 4.7 billion tonnes of material, according to internal company estimates. The asset is expected to contain more than 27% heavy rare earth elements (HREE) and Critical Metals says efforts to convert the internal resource to US SEC standards are being made.  https://lnkd.in/dqxUbHux
