This breakthrough on the 1st dry cathode electrode in an #EV is also better for the #environment: 1) Reduction in energy consumption in the manufacturing process by ~70% (direct transition from cathode and anode powder to an electrode film instead of the need for massive machinery and large ovens) 2) Reduced chemical use & lower waste generation (no need for disposable gels or conductive paste that often contain chemicals) 3) Less water usage (wet electrodes often require water and saline solutions) PS. More can be done to compete with China's critical mineral complex. The GAO's recent report on critical mineral recovery from non-traditional resources goes to show the potential to secure America's supply chains at home. One way to expand critical mineral supplies is through leveraging existing assets such as coal fly ash and pairing it with American innovation. The hard part is deploying capital towards these endeavors.
