Stack Sports has joined nearly 20 partner organizations for The Aspen Institute’s new #63X30 Vision, aimed at getting 63% of youth playing sports by 2030. As of today it is estimated only 54% of children ages 6-17 in the U.S. played on a team or took lessons in 2022. As one of the partner organizations, Stack Sports joins the other partnering organizations in committing to taking actions that can get and keep more children playing sports, from creating affordable programs in underserved neighborhoods to promoting multi-sport sampling to developing more coaches to serve children’s needs. 🌟 Reflecting on Community Sport Funding and Evidencing wider links 🌟 After watching a thought-provoking debate clip and delving deeper into Lord Wood of Anfield's insights on community sport from last week, I couldn't help but contemplate the essential role of aligning funding streams with the profound impact sports can have on individuals' lives. I clipped the below 80 seconds highlight for me, from a 15 minutes speech, where Lord Wood encapsulated the historical context and existing barriers facing community sports. One statement resonated deeply with me: "Part of the policy challenge is aligning the funding streams for sports with the areas in which sport has such positive impacts on people's lives." Addressing this challenge requires a joint effort beyond conventional boundaries. I have been told it is too hard to evidence... While emphasising the tangible impacts of sports might seem daunting, bridging the gap between industry experts and external stakeholders can open new avenues for collaboration and innovation. As part my #IVLP experience in #America, I had an opportunity to go and watch a basketball match in #washingtondc . I not only watched a basketball game, but I experienced: 1. How America uses #technology to make sport an exciting family affair; 2. A concept if sports marketing which makes sports a go to place; 3. How sport is used as a tool of integrating social inclusion Brion Johnson

Sports is one of the ways to unite, engage, and encourage people to take positive actions. I believe this new earning culture is misleading the audience in the wrong way. I hope we can wake up to pursue better causes. While sports can serve as a powerful force for bringing people together and fostering positive behaviors, the growing emphasis on earning and financial gain within sports culture can overshadow its true essence. Instead of focusing solely on monetary rewards, we should prioritize values like teamwork, sportsmanship, and community building. According to federal data shared by The Aspen Institute, only 54% of children ages 6-17 in the U.S. played on a team or took lessons in 2022, down from 58% in 2017. As one of the partner organizations, Little League joins the other partnering organizations in committing to taking actions that can get and keep more young people playing sports, from creating affordable programs in underserved neighborhoods to promoting multi-sport sampling to developing more coaches to serve children’s needs. “As the world’s largest youth sports organization, we have an obligation to help lead the way in getting more children involved in playing sports and there is no better organization to rally behind than The Aspen Institute and Project Play.
