𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐚 𝐖𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞: 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 Ever wondered what George Bailey’s world would be like without him? Spoiler: It wouldn’t be as wonderful. It’s a Wonderful Life teaches us the importance of connections and the impact one person can have. In event planning, creating meaningful connections between attendees is so important. The number one mistake I see is agendas are so packed with content, that attendees to now have time to make connections! Whether through thoughtful networking opportunities, creating space for connecting, or engaging in ice-breaker activities, facilitating and allowing space for genuine interactions can make your event memorable. Just as George Bailey’s relationships enriched his life, allowing time in your meetings or events creates opportunities for connections to grow. Are you missing important opportunities to build community at your events? 🗝️ It used to be that people came for the content 🗝️ It used to be that the big-name speaker was the photo you showed people But those things are not what event attendees solely live for anymore. As event-goers, we want to feel like: ****Our time and investment is valued**** ****There is something meaningful to experience**** ****We belong and are part of a community of people we can relate to**** Now…put on your event organizer hat What do you think of your event? Like a moment in time or an opportunity to convene and strengthen your community? When it comes to harnessing the community-building aspect of an event - here are some mistakes I’ve seen along with some interesting wins: Mistakes: 🔕 Lack of intentional networking - leaving people to just bump into the halls 🔕Inadequate pre-event hyping and connecting people through online means 🔕Segmenting audiences and keeping them separate in tracks and socials Wins: 🔔 Community concierge pre-event - asking what would make your experience exceptional? Who would you like to meet? 🔔 Co-created shared experiences - leaving place in the conference agenda for attendees to build/create/solve together 🔔 Meaningful serendipity - using the registration process to identify meaningful things in your life - hobbies, locations, lifestyle-based ways to connect through spaces, and even badge identification It doesn't take a huge lift. It takes intention and thoughtfulness to use your event as a community builder/strengthener. Here are 3 of the best ways to encourage networking at your next medical event: 1️⃣ 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 - Break large groups into smaller, interactive discussions or workshops for more meaningful networking. This allows attendees to engage with one another on a deeper level, fostering connections. 2️⃣ 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗢𝗻𝗲 - Plan an informal social gathering after the first day. Whether it's a dinner, drinks, or a fun city tour, a casual setting encourages attendees to relax and bond over shared experiences from the day. 3️⃣ 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 - Add a game element like networking bingo or speed introductions to help participants step out of their comfort zones. This creative approach makes meeting new people fun and engaging, especially for those who find networking daunting. 🔁Spread the knowledge! Over the years of planning events, I've realized how crucial communication and collecting insights from attendees are for success. Think about a trip with friends—without a group chat, it wouldn’t be as fun, right? In my experience, creating chat groups on platforms like Facebook or LinkedIn for your events fosters better communication and engagement. It allows attendees to network, share insights, and stay updated on event information, creating a sense of community. These groups also help gather ideas, insights, polls, surveys, and feedback. Remember, everything you’re doing is about people, not just individuals. This approach ensures everyone feels included, making the event more enjoyable for all. #EventPlanning #CorporateEvents #DigitalCommunication #EventSuccess #AmberEffectEvents #NewBrunswickEvents #CanadaEvents #EventTips #CommunityBuilding #CanadaEvents

Best Ice-breakers to open your in-person community events with. The beginning of any in-person event is a pivotal moment. It's when attendees are just starting to get comfortable and open up to connecting with new people. Using the right ice-breakers can be the secret sauce for creating an engaging, community-driven event experience. Here's why the right kind of ice-breakers in the beginning are essential: - They help people feel comfortable opening up. A well-chosen prompt gives attendees an easy way to share a bit about themselves. - They encourage deeper, more meaningful interactions. When people have an opportunity to share authentically, it lays the groundwork for creating deeper connections. - They set the tone for the entire event. Memorable icebreakers leave a lasting positive impression and keep people energized. Here are some of my favorite ice-breaker prompts to add to the beginning of an event: - What’s your intention for attending this experience? - What’s a rose, bud and thorn in your life right now? - What’s something you’re grateful for? - If you really knew me, you would know (share 3x if you want to go deeper) The right icebreakers can truly transform your event from OK to unforgettable. Start your event off on the right foot by giving attendees a fun, engaging way to get to know each other. #community #communityevents #communitybuilder #inpersonevents #icebreakers #teambuilding

Preach Tinique Hay {Your Go-To Event Planner} - Events ARE a GREAT investment for your business. With over 30 years of experience in producing, promoting, and planning events, I can wholeheartedly endorse this statement. I've organized events where I've lost money and others where I've achieved great success. Regardless of the financial outcome, the connections and strategic partnerships I've formed have been invaluable. For example, I used to run a music conference in Houston that attracted attendees from all 50 states. The process of marketing and promoting this conference not only raised my value but also significantly expanded my network. Although the day after an event can feel anticlimactic, as all the work is done, it's actually the perfect time to start planning your next event. Did you know? According to a recent study, marketers who prioritize event marketing are 40% more likely to report business success. Events not only enhance visibility but also boost business relations and brand credibility. #EventPlanning #BusinessGrowth #Networking #StrategicPartnerships #EventMarketing #ProfessionalDevelopment #IndustryLeaders #NationalConferences #EventROI #BrandVisibility

I have to address the elephant in the room. Events are not a waste of money. Planning an event is a long-term investment. Not only in terms of time and resources but also in the potential impact it can have on your business or organisation. Here’s why 1️⃣ Strategic Vision: A well-planned event starts with a clear strategic vision. 2️⃣ Relationship Building: Events offer a unique opportunity to foster meaningful relationships with clients, partners and stakeholders. 3️⃣ Brand Awareness: Hosting an event raises your brand's visibility and enhances its reputation within your industry. 4️⃣ Community Building: Successful events create a sense of belonging and trust among attendees, fostering a loyal community around your brand or cause. The list goes on… Planning an event is not just about here and now… It's an investment in the future success and sustainability of your business. Just bear this in mind when you dismiss the idea of planning an impact event. 👉🏾Did you know you can master event planning in 6 simple steps? #founders #eventplanner #entreprenuership #eventstrategy

What is the secret to a successful event? Meaningful Connections! At a recent conference we organised, two attendees struck up a conversation during the coffee break. What started as a casual chat over a cup of coffee turned into a successful business partnership because of how much they resonated with each other. It's not about simply networking anymore; it's about establishing quality and genuine connections with the right people based on mutual interests and skills. In the past five years, I've had incredible opportunities to meet inspiring people at some of the prominent events I've been a part of. For us, it's not just about booking venues or organising schedules. It's about creating environments where people can connect, share ideas and build lasting relationships. We believe in creating spaces that inspire and bring people together in powerful ways. Looking forward to building more such strong connections! #events #networking #connections #opportunities
