Community Building Myth #7: “Online events don’t need prep.”... It is a common mistake to assume that online events can be run with minimal preparation. Like in-person events, online gatherings need careful planning—structure, clear objectives, and promotion. Without preparation, technical difficulties, awkward silences, and lack of engagement can ruin the experience. Successful online events require rehearsals, well-defined agendas, and interactive elements to keep the audience involved. I would love Valentina Ruffoni's thoughts in the comments! And I'm sure Juliet Tripp has a voice in this myth :)

Events are not required to build community. But they do create something very special. However, there is a balance to be had to make sure that your event is community-focussed, and not sales-focussed. Check out our recent webinar to hear experts Pete and Jacob dive into this topic! https://lnkd.in/eNHCJ9Ds #Community #Webinar

The Joys of Building Community Through Events There’s something magical about watching an event come to life, the laughter, the connections, the shared moments that leave people with memories they’ll cherish forever. As someone who loves creating events for my community, I find immense joy in seeing those smiles and hearing those stories. But behind the scenes, it’s a rollercoaster of challenges. Every successful event has its fair share of hurdles, unexpected "fires" to put out, last-minute changes, and keeping everything aligned with the budget. It's not always glamorous, but that's where I thrive. I love the thrill of problem-solving under pressure, of turning chaos into calm and making it all look seamless from the outside. It’s about blending creativity, organization, and adaptability to craft something beautiful for others. When it all comes together, I feel a deep sense of pride. It’s not just about the event itself, it’s about the journey to get there. The behind-the-scenes team effort, the quick decisions, and the small wins along the way. Here’s to building community, one event at a time.

Last night, I hosted an event for 70+ Hampton members with NYC legend Kevin Ryan and Sam Parr. Something I always do when executing events? Over communicate to guests. Below are some tips, what am I missing? -Share logistical details a week in advance so people have time to plan. -Of course, people forget or may simply ignore your first email. Reminders are key! I like to send a reminder the day before and a short one the day of. - Link the address in google maps to make it easy to find the location - Share the guest list ahead of time - Send the run of show so guests know what to expect. Starting and ending with networking? Tell them! -At Hampton, our community lives on Slack. Yet, I know that some folks prefer email, so I make sure to hit people up on email and Slack to ensure no one misses important information. - Make yourself available as the host! I often give my cell just in case anyone needs anything last minute. My event peeps - what other tips to you have for communicating with your attendees?

Tip of the Day: Community Collaboration Opens Opportunities. 📢 Have you ever hesitated to ask for help or support in your local community groups? Don't underestimate the power of reaching out! Here's a recent example from our journey: 🗣️ We recently posted a shout-out in our local community groups about our upcoming D-Day event. Little did we know, this simple act would open doors to incredible opportunities! One member suggested joining a 1940s themed event Facebook group, which led to a cascade of connections and possibilities. 💡 Key Lesson: When you engage with your community, you tap into a wealth of resources, ideas, and networks you never knew existed. By sharing our event plans, I have not only gained interest from fellow residents eager to participate but also received valuable suggestions that has improved our event experience. 🎉 The Result: Thanks to our community outreach, our event is evolving into something beyond our initial vision. We're now welcoming residents eager to share their stories, artefacts, and historical insights, turning our event into a memorable touch-and-tell experience. 🚪 Ready to Take the Next Step? If you're unsure where to start or what to ask for, I'm here to help. We can work together to turn your ideas into reality and create something truly special for your community. #CommunityEngagement #Collaboration #EventPlanning #Opportunities #LocalGroups #CommunitySupport #Community #Growth
