A recent survey by the Early Childhood Association across 125 schools has unveiled a stark reality: the majority of school cafeterias are in the grips of junk food, while school managements remain largely in the dark about the food's origins and preparation methods. As a Mumbai-based nutrition counselling company, our mission has always been to advocate for the importance of nutrition education, not only for children but also for young parents. We understand the significant impact of diet on the growth and development of young minds and bodies. Our efforts extend to collaborating with schools to revamp their menus, incorporating healthier options like millets and a variety of vegetables, and trying to ensure these foods are prepared in a way that preserves their nutritional value. The essence of this conversation is not just about what our children are eating, but about the future we're building for them. As members of this professional network, many of us hold roles as parents, educators, or influencers within our communities. We have a unique opportunity to leverage our collective voice and advocate for a nutritional revolution in our schools. We invite you to join us in this crucial conversation. Let's make nutrition a priority for the young minds of India, for they are the ones who will shape our future. #NutritionMatters #HealthySchools #ChildWellbeing #EducationalReform #ProfessionalCommunityAction #NutritionForChildren #HealthyIndia #SchoolNutrition #ChildHealth #Parenting #EducationReform

🌟New Chapter Ahead! 🌟 I'm excited to announce that I have joined Let's Educate Children In Need (LECIN) as an intern. LECIN is dedicated to the holistic development of children, focusing on early childhood education, health, and nutrition. I had the privilege of a recent introductory call with Nupur Bhardwaj and Rohit Kumar, the inspiring founders of LECIN. They shared the incredible initiatives that LECIN is spearheading to nurture and support children's growth. Personal Story/Observation : Having previously visited several Anganwadi centers, I witnessed firsthand the impact of proper nutrition and education on young children. These experiences have fueled my passion for making a difference in early childhood development, and I am thrilled to be part of an organization that aligns with these values. About the Campaign : LECIN has recently launched the #SehatWalaKhana campaign, an integral part of their POSHAN program. This initiative focuses on providing healthy, nutritious meals, snacks, and fruits to children at Anganwadi centers. Objectives of the Campaign : 1. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗘𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀 : Encourage sustainable and healthy eating practices among children and their communities. 2. 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 : Equip mothers with the knowledge and skills to prepare nutritious and balanced meals using locally available, affordable ingredients. 3. 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 : Identify and screen for malnutrition and other undiagnosed health issues in children. Why This Matters : Malnutrition is a significant issue in India, affecting many children under the age of 6. According to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5), 35.5% of children under five are stunted, 32.1% are underweight, and 19.3% suffer from wasting. Initiatives like POSHAN are crucial in addressing these challenges and ensuring that children receive the nutrition they need to thrive. I am genuinely excited to be part of this impactful journey, working towards a healthier future for children. Together, let's make a difference! 🌱💪 You can find more about this initiative here : https://lnkd.in/gD_v5qbB #ChildDevelopment #EarlyChildhoodEducation #Nutrition #LECIN #POSHAN #SehatWalaKhana

A young adult who was unable to cope with the demands of academic pursuits due to poor brain development linked to malnutrition ends up uneducated, unemployed and most likely involved in social vices. The theme for this year’s International Day of Education is “Learning for Peace” and I can’t help but draw our attention to the proven importance of nutrition in the first 1000 days of life and brain development. One of the most devastating effects of malnutrition in infants is the missed opportunity for optimum brain development which affects educational performance and in the long run the socioeconomic ability in adulthood. To ensure we keep the peace, let us ensure pregnant women are adequately nourished and children under five get all the nutrients they need to develop to become successful adults. Nutrition is multidimensional and should be considered in all sectors of society. It is not just about food, it’s also about economics and quality of human capital a country can boast of. The mistake most countries make with school feeding programs is that they focus on just providing food, they barely understand the ripple effects on the child who is sure of a nutritious meal at school and how that is enough motivation to get an education. When the quality of food meets the standards required to provide recommended nutrients you are investing in the quality of human capital needed to drive your economy. When they embezzle those funds they are robbing the country of its future economic growth and development. #nutrition #education

Since we don’t learn health as a subject in school, I have decided to launch India's "health-school"! I strongly believe that just the way we learn history, geography & English Literature, we need to learn health as a subject in school! The reason I started Health School is because 1) Indians are educated but not health literate 2) Preventing illness is way cheaper than curing illness The first course in Health School will be "Label Seekhega India"- A Nutrition Masterclass. In the next few months I will partner with the best doctors, nutritionists, fitness experts to develop classes on diabetes, sleep, insulin resistance, PCOS and many more topics. I’m running a massive social experiment regarding the price. The price is “Give what you want" and every contribution will feed multiple kids! This way we can tackle both health literacy and hunger! Come let us get together and make India "health literate"! Details to register for the first course happening on 28th July is at https://lnkd.in/g6B3_TGV

A CHANGE MOVEMENT CALLED EDUNUT EduNut was initiated with the primary aim of improving the nutritional status of learners in Upper Primary Classes and fostering increased parental commitment to punctuality and regular school attendance in our community school. Two main concerns prompted the initiation of EduNut in our community school: 1. Providing daily meals and promoting a healthy nutritional lifestyle for learners aged 8 and above. 2. Addressing parents/guardians’ perceptions, views, and active involvement in their children/wards’ education. To tackle these concerns, a comprehensive approach was adopted, including community sensitization on educational nutrition. This involved collaborating with professionals from the health sector (nutritionists) and the education sector (educators/child advocates). A creative solution was introduced through the establishment of a NUT TROUPE, a group using art, dance, and drama to help learners explore ways to maintain a healthy nutritional lifestyle. Beneficiaries of the project include learners, parents/guardians, and the broader school/community. The success of our sensitization program was achieved through strategic methods such as interviewing learners, engaging with parents during regular meetings, obtaining approval for facilitation during town hall meetings, and connecting with market women during their monthly gatherings. The implementation of the NUT TROUPE in three areas of the Ifo Community—Pakoto, Orile Ifo, and Olose Ifo—has contributed significantly to the project’s impact. Moreover, a group of 2021 fellows has taken up the initiative, recognizing the ongoing need to address these issues and influence the mindset of other communities in Ifo. This initiative reflects a holistic and sustainable approach to addressing nutritional and educational challenges, fostering positive change in the community's mindset and practices. #EduNut #CommunityImpact #EducationForAll #NutritionalWellBeing #SustainableChange

The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) urges the government to prioritise early education on the importance of healthy habits as part of a national strategy to encourage healthy lifestyle among Malaysians and prevent further increases in cases of non communicable diseases (NCDs). Child obesity was almost unheard of 40 to 50 years ago but is now a national health issue. According to the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2019, 14.8% of children aged between 5 and 17 were found to be obese, a significant increase from 6.1% reported in 2011. More alarmingly, based on the 2015 NHMS, 1.65 million Malaysian school children are expected to be overweight or obese by 2025. #medicolegal #healthcare #mlsm
Teach children healthy habits early for long-term benefits, says MMA
