A portion of the Fort Building just north of City Hall in Fort Bragg is on its way to becoming a tribal learning center, in collaboration with the city and a coalition of local tribes.
In this month’s blog, Leonie Serbrock, Head of Boarding at Mowden Hall School, recognises the importance of creating a ‘home’ for the pupils that board at our schools.
Embracing a pupil's individuality in our family of flourishing schools can contribute to the happy memories our boarders will make during their academic years.

Us: Why do you like TVM?
Scholars: Because there’s no boringness!
In TVM, Mahea Gaskins has all the scholars say “We are allergic to boring!” Our method of family #engagement attracts parents to be involved in their child’s learning experience. This creates the bridge to then engage families in the #school and #community.
That’s the goal! Research has proven that when parents are more active and engaged with their child’s academic journey…the behavior, attendance and grades improve as well.
This is just one of the differences that partnering with a full-service community building organization provides.
The Village Method (TVM) is a strategic partner for school districts, designing sustainable, holistic educational solutions.
Through programs like ScholarPrep Nation, ASHE, and First Teachers Collaborative, TVM offers end-to-end service from strategic planning to implementation, significantly reducing administrative burdens for our partners.
This is a Win, Win, Win!
The community, school and (most importantly) the children all WIN with our Community Builders Initiative.
Let’s do it again!
Is summer over already? August is here and so is #NationalBacktoSchoolMonth. With Sarasota, Manatee, and DeSoto county students returning to class on the 12th, their new chapter has just begun. It's an exciting time filled with new teachers, friends, and subjects, but getting back into school mode can be challenging for kids too. Here are some tips for helping them prepare: https://lnkd.in/g9FturQV
I'm especially interested in this post by Horizon Care & Education, describing their therapeutic approach with a focus on learning spaces.
Many years ago I was a regular contributor for SEND Magazine. One such article was on the learning environment & optimum learning spaces, taking as research an analysis of the teaching spaces for children with SEND across a number of schools.
Audits of learning spaces, for highly vulnerable children, included - dining halls, corridors, changing rooms, outside classrooms, outside the HT's office, libraries, IT rooms... Hardly optimum learning environments. Combine that with the number of hours a typical student with SEND is out of the classroom, and there are a host of added difficulties right there.
So, lots of words to say, this article pleases me on many fronts. Well done.
Across our specialist schools, we’re continually exploring ways to create therapeutic learning environments that best support the needs of our pupils.
To achieve this, our Therapy and Estates teams work closely together, collaborating on thoughtful and innovative designs that enhance the educational experience for every young person.
From calming spaces to engaging classrooms, we’re proud to see our vision come to life with the opening of our three new schools - Tipton Green College, Bushbury School, and Grove Road School 💚
