Honouring Our Heroes: 80 Years Since D-Day. Today marks the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings; and I'd like us to pause and reflect on the courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment of the brave men and women who stormed the beaches of Normandy on that fateful day in 1944. Allied Forces Unite: Troops from the UK, the USA, Canada, and France joined forces to launch the largest seaborne invasion in history. Their collective determination turned the tide of World War II, laying the foundation for an Allied victory. From Portsmouth to Normandy: On June 6, 1944, these heroes faced unimaginable challenges as they waded through the cold waters, dodging bullets and artillery fire. Their sacrifice and resilience paved the way for freedom and peace. Remembering Our Veterans: Today, we stand on the shoulders of giants—those who risked everything for our liberty. Let us remember their valour, their sacrifice, and their unwavering commitment to a better world. Supporting Our Veterans: Supporting veterans isn’t just about remembering the past; it’s about ensuring their well-being today. You can support this by advocating for mental health services, employment opportunities, and a strong support network for those who served. Learning from History: The lessons of D-Day resonate across generations. We must teach our children about the importance of unity, peace, and freedom. Their testimony serves as a timeless reminder that we must never take these precious values for granted. https://lnkd.in/eSuBiMy6 #DDay80 #RememberingHeroes Tim O'Keefe (FIRP) Nick Garland CDW UK Mark Murphy

A Call To Action: Demand Your Senators Support the VETT Act (S.677) Our legislative team needs your help to pass critical veterans legislation. We won’t be successful without voices like yours reaching out to your Members of Congress. The VSO Equal Tax Treatment (VETT) Act, a bill allowing all veteran non-profits like AMVETS and the American Legion to receive tax-deductible charitable gifts, is stuck in the Senate (S.677). This bill is crucial because Congressionally Chartered Veteran non-profits cannot have more than 10 percent of non-wartime-era veterans in their membership. If they do, the IRS will no longer let AMVETS & American Legion Posts receive tax-deductible charitable gifts, like every other charitable organization in America. And we think that’s a bunch of baloney. Veteran non-profits shouldn’t be penalized for welcoming home honorably discharged Cold War Era veterans. Our Cold War Era Veterans are invaluable members of our Nation and the AMVETS family. The law is unfair to them and their service. This outdated rule must be changed. Your Senators are the key to passing the VETT Act, and your voice is needed to see this bill enacted. Vice President Data Strategy and Operations 🔹 Patient Advocate 🔹 Pharmaceutical Services Industry Expert 🔹 Submarine Veteran
Have you heard of #veteran #transitionstress? It's a common among separating #veterans when they leave the military since for many that is all they know. The hurdles they face are numerous: finding a new job, losing their military friends, finding purpose, and losing routine, to name a few. It is a challenging time, as many may not want to ask for help as they try to adapt to civilian life. Some #veterans have compared the experience to shedding their military "skin," much like Will Ferrell's character in Zoolander. As a US Navy #veteran myself, I experienced many of these hurdles, but was fortunate to find opportunities at veteran-friendly companies like Toll Brothers and Mercalis. If you know a veteran who's experiencing a recent transition, please show your support by connecting with them, giving them advice, or just asking how they're doing so they know they are not alone. And if you don't know a veteran, consider supporting some great charities that help veterans, like Mission 22, Irreverent Warriors, Inc., or The SUP Veterans. Please help make this transition a little easier for those who have served our country. #supportveterans #veterancharities https://lnkd.in/db-ARbHM

Behind every statistic lies a story, a hero who served. Did you know there are 21 million American veterans, with 16.6 million having served during wartime? Yet, 3.6 million live with service-connected disabilities. Shockingly, almost half lack access to vital services. It's time to change that narrative. Join us in making a difference. 💙 #ourmission #veterans #militaryfamilies #armyveteran #veteran #nonprofitorganization #veteransupport #veteranassistance

Myth: Asking for help means I’m weak. Fact: Recognizing the need for care in addressing invisible wounds is a testament to one’s strength. Just like you can’t wish away the symptoms of the flu, you cannot wish away symptoms of invisible wounds. And unlike the flu, they don’t fade away with time. Seeking treatment (professional and through organizations like Operation Motorsport) is imperative to embark on the path to well-being. If you, or someone you know, has a love for motorsports, reach out to us. We’re here to help. #OperationMotorsport #OneAtATime #veterans #military #veteranshelpingveterans #volunteer #volunteeropportunity

In preparation for our upcoming Board of Directors meeting, we asked our Veteran Director, Tim Hickey, to update us on Veteran Homelessness. "...the actual numbers for homeless veterans has increased more than the 7% in that article was recently shared. They changed the definition of 'homeless' and made it more restrictive - and the numbers STILL went up." We must do better. Nobody Should Freeze to Death in America. Nobody. Especially not our veterans. #dobetter #vets #veterans #marines #usmc #army #navy #airforce #coastguard #homelessness #military #brotherhood #suicideprevention #charity #codeofvets #donate #instagood #veterans #homeless #supportourveterans #veteransupport #usveterans #veteranshelpingveterans #veteransuicideawareness #veteransusa #philanthropy #nonprofitleadership #veteransadministration #veteransforveterans #subzeromission #sub0mission #nobodyshouldfreezetodeathinamerica

Highly recommend reading "Max Out Your Life" by Ed Mylett to start out 2024! If you've already read it, it doesn't hurt to revisit the text. You already know there is great takeaways inside.
What a way to end 2023 and start 2024! "The biggest dream killer of so many is their addiction to the opinions of others." - Ed Mylett November 2021, I, Matt Watkins, left active duty, transitioned to the reserves and embarked on an expedition that I was overly excited for yet, poorly prepared. This is not a post of my story however, it is a post to let all #transitioningservicemembers and #militaryspouses who are getting ready to step foot in an arena you've never been in, or at least one that has drastically changed know that Operation Headshot is here as a resource to ease the stressors that will come your way. Are we a nonprofit geared toward photography??? Sure. However, each team member, volunteer, and connections we work with have a passion to help people. We have been there, in one way or another, and we want to help all succeed. We are on a mission to change the stigma #veterans and #militaryspouses carry with them. We are on a mission to keep the steel barrels out of the mouths of those we need standing beside us. We are on a mission to provide skills and opportunities in turn lowering those outrageous unemployment rates we see among veterans and milspouses. We are on a mission to positively change the future of those who have sacrificed so much. To start 2024, I recommend reading, or listening to "Max Out Your Life" by Ed Mylett. #veteran #military #militarytransition #army #navy #marines #airforce #coastguard #spaceforce #nationalguard If you are interested in supporting, volunteering, or taking advantage of our resources, please visit our website or reach out to me personally. www.operationheadshot.com

🌟 Day 16/100: The Spirit of Service - Extending Beyond the Uniform 🌟 Day 16 of our journey brings us to a core value that defines military life and enriches our civilian communities: the Spirit of Service. Service in the military goes beyond the call of duty; it’s a deep-seated commitment to supporting one another, upholding shared values, and contributing to the greater good. This ingrained sense of service doesn’t end with the uniform; it extends into every aspect of a veteran’s life, inspiring involvement in community initiatives, volunteer work, and public service. The transition to civilian life provides a broad platform for veterans to apply this spirit of service, making meaningful impacts in their communities and beyond. Whether it’s through leadership in local organizations, volunteering, or mentoring, the contributions of veterans are invaluable. “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.” - Muhammad Ali. This quote encapsulates the essence of the spirit of service, emphasizing that giving back is a fundamental aspect of a fulfilling life. #SpiritOfService #VeteranCommunity #GiveBack #VeteransInService #Day16of100 📌 16/100: Today, let’s celebrate the ongoing contributions of veterans in our communities and reflect on how we can each embody the spirit of service in our daily lives. It’s about making a difference, one act of service at a time.
