𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 “𝐛𝐢𝐨” 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐢𝐨”𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧” 𝐯𝐢𝐚 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞! Why does this bio-cemented column matter? Because it's produced thanks to the launch of our new, enhanced biocementation plant. We have recently achieved a 𝟒𝟕𝟎% 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐩𝐮𝐭 compared to 2023, thanks to the buildup and launch of our fourth version of our flagship and mobile plant! This prototype column made up of fine aggregates between 0-1mm summarizes the following achievements: ⚙️ Streamlined Production: Biocementation in prefabricated moulds or encased columns can occur in parallel with nitrogen valorization in less than 9 hours.* 🔄 Circular Sustainability: The plant implements a zero-waste model, recycling nitrogen for agricultural use after biocementation. 💧 Water Efficiency: Water consumption effectively reduces to 150-200 liters per cubic meter of biocemented elements. 🟢 pH conditions far from alkaline levels: The biocementation process concludes in pH environments between 7-8 Learn more about the “bio” in bio”cementation” here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/etiDvRvr #Biocementation #SustainableConstruction #Innovation #TechMilestone

So here´s me in Kinda and our latest batch of 10 tons of biochar, ready to be shipped to a customer. This batch will be used for local soil improvement and thereby increase the soils ability to hold water and nutrition, effectively boosting plant growth. These are great functional benefits. But putting the biochar into the soil also creates a carbon sink. As carbon has an atomic wight of 12 and oxygen has an atomic weight of 16, creating a carbon sink with 10 tons of carbon is equivalent to creating a carbon sink of 36,6 tons of CO2. To be precise, the biochar has a carbon content of around 85% (the rest being ashes). So the exact carbon sink is 0,85 *36 = 31 tons of carbon dioxide removal. That is what you see in front of you. How does this work? Unlike fresh wood, the biochar does not microbially degrade (solid carbon does not rot) into carbon dioxide. If it has been produced at high temperature meaning that it is free from hydrocarbons it is referred to as “Inertinite Biochar” referring to its permanence. Fresh research confirms that such biochar “will not relevantly degrade in soils within climate-relevant periods (in any case beyond 1000 years and realistically well beyond 10 000 years)”. Our biochar is in fact produced at such high temperature conditions. Biochar carbon removal (BCR) is an absolutely unique carbon removal technology as it is technically and commercially mature and as it has a functional value (meaning that its production represents a revenue stream and not a cost). We need more of it, much more.

♻️ A breakthrough in breaking down electronic waste (e-waste). This new e-waste recycling method, developed by researchers at Rice University, achieves metal recovery of over 85%, with purities exceeding 95%. Building upon flash Joule heating (FJH), which involves using electric current to rapidly heat discarded electronic materials, the researchers employ FJH chlorination and carbochlorination processes. Traditional recycling methods rely on harmful chemicals and energy-intensive processes. This new approach avoids using water, acids, or solvents, allowing for the precise extraction of valuable metals like indium, gallium, and tantalum.
