🥩 We recently took a deep dive on the scaling of cultivated meat production. 🐟 One of the companies we talked to for the deep dive was Umami Bioworks, which produces cultivated seafood without a catch. 💡It sees Singapore as a promising first go-to market, with Group Leader at Umami Bioworks, Lim Choon Kiat, commenting: “The process of getting regulatory approval is very lengthy and stringent, but I think being in Singapore gives us some advantage as the guidelines here are more well defined, when compared with the USA ...The Singapore government also has a more friendly attitude toward cultivated meat, or alternative proteins in general.” 📰 Dive deeper into the scaling of cultivated meat production by reading our full deep dive now! 🔗https://hubs.ly/Q02lyDZk0 #cultivatedmeat #alternativeproteins #seafood #novelfood #proteinproduction

Everyone can now contribute to saving the Baltic Sea! With the launch of our newest Baltic Sea Flavour Edition, we're also supporting Giedrius Bučas and his team in the Expedition "Save The Baltic Sea", which contribution can be counted in 6000 kilometers and 8 countries, and will take 9 months to complete. The expedition team has recently completed a 2,000-kilometer stretch, having passed through Poland, Germany, Denmark, and currently hiking in Sweden. “We want to become a link that brings residents closer to the sea, foster a culture of sea preservation, encourage interest in, and knowledge about, the environment and the impact of human activities,” says Giedrius Bučas, head of the "Save The Baltic Sea" expedition. The environmental expedition’s partners include "Estrella Baltics," which recently introduced the "Baltic Flavour" potato chips line. This not only incorporates flavors popular in Baltic cuisine but also encourages contributions to sea conservation. “Everyone who buys the chips can directly contribute to reducing Baltic Sea pollution, as 1 cent from every purchased pack will go to the currently established "Save The Baltic Sea" charity fund,” says Sebastian Kala, CEO of "Estrella Baltics." He adds that 21% less plastic is used in the production of these chip packages, reducing the CO2 footprint by 17%. One of the company’s commitments is to ensure that by 2025 all chip packages are fully recyclable and the total amount of plastic used in production is reduced by 15%. “Changes need to be made today,” says S. Kala. “In 2022, we set goals aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). We are accelerating innovations to produce our products with less energy and waste, and investing in efficient production methods.” Compared to 2021, the company aims to reduce Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 50% and Scope 3 emissions by 30% by 2032. This week at Yara, we had the pleasure of hosting a coffee event in collaboration with the Colombian Embassy in Norway, focusing on the crucial role of female growers producing high quality coffee in Colombia, represented by members of Sello Mujer, a Colombian association of female growers. Aneth Chocontá, the leader of the association and one of the winners of our Yara Champion Program in Colombia, travelled all the way to Norway to share their plans to make coffee growing more sustainable and offer a taste of her coffee to the participants. This included several ambassadors from countries such as Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Romania, South Africa, Peru, and Portugal, as well as representatives from the National Federation of Coffee Growers in Colombia and the Minister of Development in Norway. It was great to see a simple idea brought by Paola Bernal Rodriguez, H. E. Ambassador of Colombia in Norway, developed in full collaboration with us, having such a positive impact on Aneth: a life changing moment! This further reinforces the power of collaboration! As I´ve mentioned before, I strongly believe in the power of collaborative efforts between different actors of the industry, public sector, or civil society to address challenges faced by farmers every single day. From the impact of climate changes to a more equitable value distribution within the coffee value chain, there is much to do to truly contribute to the prosperity of rural communities. In Colombia, approximately five hundred thousand families depend on coffee for their subsistence. To reach our ambition of a Nature-Positive agriculture, we need individuals like Aneth. To help Aneth thrive, we need to collaborate across borders. It is worth it. #coffee #colombiancoffee #womeninagriculture
