Exciting developments from the Open Network For Digital Commerce (ONDC)! 🚀 Over 125 startups, including industry leaders like Zerodha, EaseMyTrip, and Cars24, have committed to preliminary on-boarding with ONDC. During a recent event organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), notable names such as OfBusiness, Winzo, Livspace, GlobalBees, Pristyn Care, Physics Wallah, and Policybazaar also signed letters of intent. Launched two years ago, ONDC aims to democratize digital commerce, fostering visibility for products and services while bringing local sellers into the digital fold. With over 500,000 sellers already onboard, 70% of which are small or medium-sized, ONDC has facilitated approximately 7.22 million transactions in April 2024 alone. T Koshy, MD and CEO of ONDC, highlighted the network's hyper-local demand and significant traction from small towns, showcasing its nationwide appeal. While established players like Amazon and Flipkart are in discussions to join ONDC, their integration may take time due to existing setups. The government has emphasized that ONDC creates opportunities for all, including large e-commerce companies. Atul Mehta, CEO of Domestic Shipping at Shiprocket, praised ONDC's reach, enabling sellers to access remote markets seamlessly. I recently explored the Open Network For Digital Commerce (ONDC) and its potential to transform ride-hailing services. As a newcomer to ONDC Official, I was curious about how this concept could change urban commuting. At Passdn, understanding ONDC seemed complex, but with dedicated research and hands-on work. I discovered its potential to create a fair and open market for ride-hailing. ONDC allows riders, drivers, and fleet operators to work together seamlessly, fostering competition and giving commuters more choices. I implemented various ONDC APIs for ride booking, driver assignment, and real-time tracking. This challenging yet rewarding process helped me see how ONDC standards can build smooth integrations. One major benefit of ONDC is its ability to empower individual drivers and small fleet operators. By giving them a platform to reach a wider audience, ONDC can democratize urban mobility and support local businesses. I am excited about the future of ride-hailing with ONDC. As more people join this network, it will continue to grow, encouraging innovation, increasing competition, and offering commuters better options, shorter wait times, and competitive pricing.
