Securing an internship can be a critical step in building a successful career, providing valuable hands-on experience and networking opportunities. However, in Thailand, landing an internship offer can be particularly challenging. The process is often marked by intense competition, language barriers, and cultural differences that can create hurdles for both local and international students. Understanding these challenges is essential for anyone looking to gain practical experience in this dynamic Southeast Asian nation. Here are five main reasons why it's hard to get internship offer in Thailand: 1. High Competition: Many students and recent graduates, both local and international, are vying for a limited number of internship opportunities, leading to intense competition for positions. 2. Language Barrier: While English is commonly used in business, many Thai companies prefer candidates who are proficient in Thai, which can be a hurdle for non-Thai speakers. 3. Limited Opportunities for Certain Fields: Some industries, particularly those that are highly specialized or require specific skills, may have fewer internship openings, making it harder for candidates in these fields to secure positions. 4. Strict Visa Regulations: For international students, obtaining the necessary visa to intern in Thailand can be complicated and restrictive, discouraging companies from offering positions to non-Thai candidates. 5. Cultural Differences: Understanding and navigating Thai business culture and expectations can be challenging for foreigners, which may affect their ability to secure and succeed in an internship. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience, build a global network, and immerse yourself in Thailand's vibrant culture. Amplifying the voices of Southeast Asia's youths | Founder & Editor at SEAmplified | NUS Political Science & Chinese Studies
𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩? 🤔 That's an age-old question that many university students would think about! As a Singaporean student who has done an overseas internship in Jakarta and now embarking on another one in Chongqing, I feel that every university student should consider embarking on one. Here's why 1️⃣ 𝐈𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 I feel that going on overseas internships requires some form of courage because you will be exploring the unknown. For example, you have to overcome language barriers to get your local phone number or rent a house. And the procedures can be very different from what we are used to in Singapore. Also, being away from the comfort of your home and family means that you have to figure out a lot of things independently, such as navigating the country that you will be located in. You will start to embrace the unknown and learn to overcome challenges along the way. 2️⃣ 𝐈𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐱 In Singapore, we are very used to following examples or instructions before working on something. But that's definitely not the case outside of Singapore! Different cultures in different countries mean different ways of doing things, and that pushes us to think out of the box to deal with different scenarios. 🤔 For example, a Javanese will not make it clear to you that they are okay or not okay with a business deal. You will have to learn to read between the lines and think of ways to convince them, such as initiating a coffee chat about their personal life. 3️⃣ 𝐈𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 😅 Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Singapore's university students are not well-educated. But staying in Singapore can only teach us this much about the world around us. After all, we are indeed a tiny red dot. By venturing beyond our shores, we get exposed to vastly different cultures and landscapes, which will broaden our perspectives and even change the way we look at things around us. 😲 For example, I learned that Indonesia is culturally diverse from my market research work, and by tasting different cuisines when traveling around the country. With that, I realized that while Singapore is a melting pot of cultures, we are not considered exceptional, and we become more educated about the world around us! 🇨🇳 That said, I am beginning to broaden my perspectives again during my first week in Chongqing, as I explore the local culture and interact with locals and Singaporeans based here. Looking forward to learning more about this city and the rest of China too! (📸: Photo with the chairman and members of SingCham China Chongqing chapter at Raffles City Chongqing, who hosted us to a welcome dinner!) #internship #china

Senior Talks Speakers : kang Nathan, kang Naufal, teh Intan Internship experience : Kang Nathan said that Internship was not just about for our carrier. Internship gave us a lot of benefit if we join that program. Like we will met new friends from another city even country. Also we will learn about the pressure that we not got it from our university. Right now in Indonesia there are several internship program like Magang Studi Independen Bersertifikat, Family Opportunity ( like if we had a family member in a company we can ask about our wish to got internship experience at there ), and many more. Kang Nathan recommend us to take the Internship opportunity, if we have a problem about our internship company He ask us to go meet head of the major. Internship wasn’t about the experience but to get in at the top company our CV must the best from other employee. So to fill in the CV Kang Farhan told us to take organization activity and volunteer experience. Not just be A Active Undergraduate student but we must to take competition that related to position that we want. IISMA Experience IISMA or Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards is the kampus Merdeka program from Indonesian Ministry of Education that allow us to take a study at top university outside Indonesia. IISMA have 2 type, the first type is fully founded program that 100% we isn’t use our money to take this experience. The second one is co-Founded program that the Living cost isn’t covered by Indonesia ministry of education. Not just 2 type IISMA also have entrepreneurship track, this track we must submit our business propose to enter this track. All IISMA program is conversion to Indonesian Curriculum University. IISMA document is CV, English Test Result, Essay in English and score transcript from University. For English test result Kang Naufal recommend us to read the University qualification, because every university have different scoring for their approval. Kang Naufal itself take the duo lingo test, his score was 140 if we conversion to IELTS score the score was 7.5. Fast Track program : Fast track program is track at Faculty of Economics and Business to take master degree and diploma degree at 5 years. The program is 3 years from diploma degree and 2 years master degree. If we want to take this fast track our GPA must above 3.5 in Indonesia GPA. Also we must add our English test and TKA test that have minimum score 450 and 4,5. In fast track program the first year at master degree we must enter the program call disertasi. In disertasi we learn again about the diploma degree material. After take the disertasi program we enter the master degree material, than we must make research paper call tesis. shofwan fawas Latifa Mischa Saqina #Digivolution2024 #BisnisDigitalUnpad2024 #FaceTheDigitalChallengeAceTheFuture

FOMO makes me share my reflection. Because people have been sharing theirs after the first week of internships lol . . . Today marks one month since my return to Vietnam. And these are the great things I’ve achieved: - Traveled to Laos for the first time in my life. - Continued my workout series (having hit over 12,000 pushups so far). - Made insanely great connections on LinkedIn. - Created 12 posts in total (this is the 13th one). - Applied to buildspace with a friend of mine. - Started Comma Story and acquired 5 clients. - Finished 1 book. Other than that, I also: - Visited my 80yo grandparents after a whole year. - Taught my brothers how to cook (dinner and at school 🙃) - Persuaded my youngest brother to read English comics. - Enjoyed coffee time with my mom and dad. - Ate the best Vietnamese dishes. - Recovered from my sleep deprivation. Overall, it sucks not being able to get an internship. And it's even worse as an international student. However, so far, I have been able to manage work that fits my schedule, demands, and desires. As well as earning professional achievements and invaluable family time. 📸 Starbucks in Vietnam is better than I thought. #internationalstudents #culture #studyabroad #internships
