Recently, the news said police stations in Malaysia will close their gates at 10 PM. Some people might think it's because they are afraid of crime. Have you ever wonder why some people commit crimes. Many people think that crime happens because people are poor. But it's more accurate to say crime happens because people don't have enough of what they need. To clarify, I don't mean everyone who lacks money will do bad things, but those who steal or commit crimes mostly because they don't have enough money. Many students finish university and look for internships, thinking it will help them learn and gain experience. But internships potentially build a limiting belief in young graduates that they should only work for others and get paid and accept a low starting salary. This is the first point leading to lack of resources. Straightforward to tell, to learn, it's better to find a good mentor who can teach and guide you the real path, simply an internship won't help much especially when your supervisor in internship is hardly survive in their job and need you to help them settle the subtle works with no value. So if you are a young graduate seeking an internship, please think carefully about your objectives. Are you doing it to learn or just to fulfill graduation requirements? Consider your future separately and find a real mentor who can guide you to avoid poverty. I have been receiving a lot of questions about the National Internship Programme, so I just wanted to clarify a few things! 😊 First, it is no longer the MTC Internship Programme, it is now called the Namibia National Internship Programme (NNIP). This change reflects our exciting collaboration with other companies to make a bigger impact and help more students. Launched in 2019, the NNIP was created to assist over 50,000 students in finding Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities, which are required to graduate. So far, more than 900 students have benefited from the program! For students, here is what you need to know: 1. Who qualifies: If you’re enrolled at a participating institution (NUST, UNAM, IUM, NIMT, or VTCs through the NTA) and need WIL to graduate, you’re eligible. 2. How it works: Submit your CV through your institution's WIL office when internships are advertised. 3. Benefits: You’ll receive N$3,000 per month over 3 months, or N$1,500 per month over 6 months, depending on your internship duration. We are so grateful to partners like Standard Bank Namibia, Old Mutual Namibia, Momentum Metropolitan Empowerment Trust, and the Namibia Institute of Pathology for their support.
