There’s not many opportunities for exploration and discovery as an adult. With my exit from Plex/Rockwell, I had the immensely great fortune to meet with many leaders in the technology and manufacturing sectors. This gave me an opportunity to meet new people, new ideas, and new products.
It also gave me time to focus on what my goals were. With each meeting I had there was a pattern evolving. Whether in software, hardware, services or organizations, I realized my “North Star” was determining how to figure out how to impact as many people and companies as I could, to help them on their Digital Transformation journey. We are facing incredible headwinds from a perfect storm targeting manufacturing. The “Great Retirement”, high churn rates, increasing labor costs, increasing complexity in manufacturing, high materials costs, higher demands in quality, traceability, and delivery.
Manufacturing leaders, beyond all of the above challenges, have an added challenges of trusting and selecting software and technologies to help with those challenges. A constant flooding of messaging, presentations, and misfires on projects. New systems are now capable of collecting and storing masses of data, intertwined, siloed and disconnected.. Data is designed to enable action, and decision, but too many times we see it get lost, or create more work - more indecision.
With great challenges come great opportunities. I used this “North Star” to hone in on the best fit. One star did shine brightly specifically for me. It represented a beautiful fit for me - culturally, and strategically. I spent years hyper focused on customers - looking to meet and exceed expectations in delivery, value, and quality. I've preached for years about friction - keeping ourselves agile in solving challenges quickly, and making it available cost effectively for our customers. The products should be able to extend reach, be accessible, powerful, but easy to use. Products did more than expected, easier, faster to deploy than expected, and how it kept adding more and more value beyond day one.
Andonix became part of that map towards my “North Star”. Rapid to implement, quick to train, quick to use, and most importantly quick to value. David Salazar Yanez and Oliver Theiss, MBA helped me see a way to finally enable operators, maintenance, and team members on the floor to have live visibility into what was going on. Most importantly, I saw a tool and platform that could enable people to have the power to make decisions, to act, and to transform the way things are done on the plant floor. Built-in AI and workflow continue to augment workers to be more effective, draw on history and documentation, and become confident leaders
I’m so excited to start a new journey as COO of Andonix. I can’t wait to share, educate, and enable front line workers around the world, and watch businesses excel.
