Distracted driving is an issue. Okay don't take my word than, look at the statistics. Distracted driving claimed 3,308 lives in 2022. Texting while driving takes your eyes off the road for about 5 seconds, which at 55 mph is like driving the length of a football field. 290,000 people were injured in crashes involving distracted drivers in 2022. Drivers aged 25-34 were responsible for the highest percentage of distracted drivers involved in fatal crashes. Using your phone while driving not only endangers your life but also the lives of others on the road. I ask to stay focused and avoid distractions to ensure everyone's safety. #DriveSafe #StayFocused #NoTextingWhileDriving #RoadSafety #DistractedDriving #SafetyFirst #SaveLives #StayAlert #PublicSafety #safety #safetytips #statistics

Drivers who text while operating a vehicle are 23 times more likely to become involved in a car accident. 🚗📵 By spreading awareness about the importance of focusing on the road while driving, we can reduce the number of accidents caused by distractions. Let's all make a commitment to prioritize safety and avoid distractions while driving, not just during this awareness month, but every time we are on the road. Together, we can create a safer environment for everyone on the streets. That's the #Upside. #distracteddrivingawarenessmonth #itcanwait

Sharing the road and driver safety idea: You know how bikers do the thumb and first two fingers low wave to one another on the road? What if, when we have our windows down in a larger vehicle, we give them that wave to signify “I see you, I’ve got you, you’re safe with me.”? Ideally, this would instigate constantly scanning the roads looking for them to wave to and simultaneaously keeping an eye out to not hit them or other smaller objects. Kids would learn this behavior from us and be more aware when they’re first out on the roads, too, hopefully. Thoughts? Maybe it would help people put the phone down and remember the responsibility we all carry on the road - looking out for one another. #driversafety #wearealldrivers #sharetheroad #dontdrivedistracted

🚗 Common Cause #8: Inexperienced Drivers 🚦 In our 10-part series on the most common causes of car accidents, we're tackling inexperienced drivers. While everyone has to start somewhere, lack of experience can lead to: Poor decision-making Panicking in tough situations Misjudging distances or road conditions While we can’t eliminate inexperienced drivers, we can protect ourselves by: ✅ Driving safely ✅ Avoiding tailgating ✅ Using turn signals ✅ Giving plenty of space The more careful and aware you are, the less likely someone else’s inexperience will affect you. Let’s make the roads safer for everyone! #RoadSafety #DriveSmart #AccidentPrevention #CarSafetyTips

As we age, we may experience changes in how well we move, see, hear, and process information. Any of these changes can affect our driving skills. While age alone is not an indicator that someone should no longer drive, if you notice any of these warning signs, a driving evaluation is recommended. • Driving too slow or too fast • Forgetting to use turn signals • Slowing reactions (physical & mental) • Trouble physically moving (turning neck, moving legs or arms) • Not staying in one lane (drifting into the other lane) • Turning too wide • Needing assistance from passengers for decisions • Getting lost even in familiar areas • Accidents, near misses, or hitting stationary objects (curbs) What does the behind-the-wheel evaluation (driving) involve? • Driving to places that you normally drive • Driving up to 1 hour • In the Driving Independence car For more information, visit DrivingIndependence.com #agingparent #olderdrivers #driversafety #driverrehab

Last night I spoke to one of my favorite groups- a Drivers Ed Class. I shared the story of my 2018 accident that was caused by a distracted driver. I showed photos of the crash scene and shared the year-long experience of recovery and the long-term ramifications I will always have. The lesson - wear your seat belt and put your phone away when you are driving. Distracted driving changes lives - and not in a good way. The National Safety Council promotes April as Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Did you know that in addition to visual distractions, you need to recognize manual distractions too? Eating, drinking coffee or anything that takes your hands off the wheel causes hashtag#distracteddriving. Let’s all make sure to hashtag#JustDrive this month and beyond. Find NSC free resources here to help you prioritize hashtag #RoadwaySafety: https://lnkd.in/gp2qTaVy. #DDAM #NationalSafetyCouncil #DistractedDriving

3moYou see it everyday. Yesterday on a 3 lane road. Car in the middle lane going 20 mph slower than either lane. I finally was able to get around her and it was a girl, head down looking at her phone sending a text. Very dangerous.
