This June, as we celebrate Pride Month, it's important for dental professionals to reflect on how they can better support and serve the LGBTQ+ community. At MouthWatch, we believe that every patient deserves to feel welcomed, respected, and receive quality dental care in an inclusive environment. Here are 3 ways you can foster inclusivity within your dental practice: 1. Educate Yourself and Staff: Take the time to learn about the diverse experiences and needs of LGBTQ+ patients. Provide training for staff on using inclusive language, understanding gender identities and pronouns, and creating a welcoming atmosphere. 2. Use Inclusive Forms and Paperwork: Review your patient intake forms and remove any unnecessarily gendered language. Allow patients to self-identify their gender and provide options beyond the binary male/female choices. 3. Create a Visibly Inclusive Environment: Display LGBTQ+ affirming signs, symbols, or artwork in your waiting room and practice areas. This simple gesture can help LGBTQ+ patients feel seen and welcomed. At MouthWatch, we believe that every patient deserves access to quality dental care in a safe, respectful, and affirming environment. This Pride Month, let's recommit to creating inclusive environments that celebrate diversity and promote quality oral care for all. #dentistry #pride #pridemonth #prideindentistry

Vice President Late Development Oncology Clinical Operations, driving patient access and improving the clinical trial experience, which can lead to approvals for life-changing cancer treatments across the globe
As we celebrate the vibrant diversity of the LGBTQ+ community, we must highlight the importance of inclusive representation in clinical trials and medical research. Ensuring #diversity in clinical trials helps to develop more personalized and effective medical interventions to combat disparities in healthcare outcomes. Historically, the LGBTQ+ community has been underrepresented in clinical trials, leading to potential gaps in healthcare. This #PrideMonth, let’s recommit to a more inclusive future in healthcare. Clinical trial diversity is good business practice, and it’s the right thing to do. #PrideMonth #ClinicalTrials #DiversityInResearch #HealthEquity

I'm thrilled to invite you to a vital session I'll be leading titled "Creating a Safe Space for LGBTQ+ Patients" on Wednesday, April 10th, from 3:30-4:30 pm at MSU College of Nursing. This workshop is designed for healthcare professionals eager to embrace and champion identity-affirming care, ensuring our healthcare environments are welcoming and inclusive for LGBTQ+ patients. In our time together, we'll dive into: - The subtleties of implicit bias and its tangible effects on LGBTQ+ communities. - The power of honoring each patient's chosen names, pronouns, and identities. - Strategies to uphold the privacy and confidentiality every patient deserves. - Practical steps we can take to foster systemic change and inclusivity. Join us in person at Michigan State University Life Science building room A230, for an interactive experience and the opportunity to engage directly. Alternatively, if you'd like to participate remotely, join us at https://lnkd.in/gGnK9VYe April 10 at 3:30 pm. This is more than just a presentation; it's a call to action. Many LGBTQ+ adults report facing discrimination in health care, and this impacts how they interact with health care in the future. 1 in 6 LGBTQ+ adults, and 1 in 5 transgender adults specifically, avoid health care due to previous discrimination. This is a significant issue with all areas of health, but especially for cancer screening and care. Health professionals must act and learn about LGBTQ+ experiences, inclusive and affirming care and language, and the unique needs and risks for LGBTQ+ populations to ensure health care is welcoming and safe for all. #clinicaltrials #cancerresearch #pride #pridemonth #healthequity #cancer #cancerscreening #cancerprevention #health #healthcare

During #Pride, the American Academy of Nursing reflects on our work to advance health equity for LGBTQ+ communities. Since last year, the Academy has signed on to 16 amicus briefs opposing restrictions to gender-affirming care. In addition to these policy actions, the American Academy of Nursing has publicly released our Policy Dialogue, “Nursing’s Responsibility to Our Patients and Our Profession: Countering the Attacks on Transgender and Gender-Diverse Health,” which is available to view here: https://lnkd.in/eVMSSEai
