The newspaper industry can learn something from Wayne Dysinger, MD, MPH. How so? "𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒚𝒍𝒆 𝒎𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒆𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒄 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒔, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒎 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒆𝒕 𝒖𝒑 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒚𝒎𝒑𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒔." We do the same thing in the news business, we focus on immediate maladies: postage increases, labor costs, programmatic advertising, etc.. We do this instead of celebrating what we do best, keeping the public informed. I would bet if we were to focus more on the positive aspects of the fourth estate and how we can help grow a community, through shared knowledge, both readers and advertisers would see the merit. I might add, Dr. Dysinger is my physician and I live near the City of Loma Linda, a blue zone. #newspapers #publishing #education
Today Healthly and Blue Zones announced their partnership and officially launched Blue Zones Health. There is great alignment between the work Blue Zones is doing in our communities and through their research of the longest-living people, and the effectiveness of lifestyle medicine through American College of Lifestyle Medicine certification. Since my time at Loma Linda University Medical Center, I have been passionate about the science behind longevity, and made it my professional mission to take a lifestyle-first approach to the way I practice medicine. With Blue Zones Health, I look forward to continuing to make a positive difference in healthcare and help more physicians be able to do the same in their practice. AMA and government announced $200 million over 2 years to stabilize family and rural generalist physician medicine. This is Step 1 to ensure that Albertans can access the unique skills of these specialists throughout their lives wherever they live- https://lnkd.in/gshuuu2k Step 2: Continue transition payments to physicians so they can afford to remain in comprehensive care until the new payment model is established. Step 3: Transform with the Physician Comprehensive Care Model as an option away from FFS that recognizes the special demands of comprehensive, cradle-to-grave care.
AMA President Dr. Paul Parks speaks at AMA and government news conference December 21, 2023

In response to the new American Medical Association (AMA) article declaring “The AMA helped defeat more than 100 bills to expand nonphysician providers’ scope of practice in 2023” CSHP CEO, Loriann De Martini, PharmD, MPH, BCGP challenged the AMA's ideology on scope creep and encouraged them to acknowledge the education and expertise of health care professionals has evolved.
