We are constantly asked in the business development process if it is "better" to hire an internal PR specialist or working with an external agency - especially if budgets are limited. While there is nuance and pros and cons to both, we believe with an agency partner, you are getting a multi-level, experience rich team with a collective network that is invaluable. #prteam #publicrelations #publicrelationsagency #prteam #communications #femalefounders

Things to consider this year if you’re hiring PR: - Do you have dedicated resources to assist them?PR is a collaborative effort with your team, dont hire an agency then ghost in the hopes the Times come knocking out of thin air. - Have you got the rest of your strategy in place? E.g social media, branding, digital marketing. PR is NOT your direct sales funnel. If a journalist looks at your social media for example, what do they see? - Have you got patience? This isn’t a quick win process. Good PR takes time, profile building takes time. If you’re not invested in the long term, don’t bother in the short term.

Bigger may be better when it comes to our favorite food, a backyard for the kids, a hotel room, or when stocking up on paper towels, but it doesn’t always apply to PR and communications agencies. Over the last decade, I have worked at two Fortune 500 companies in the energy and consumer packaged goods sectors in several corporate communications and PR roles. During that time, I partnered with numerous communications and PR agencies of varying sizes, and I experienced firsthand that bigger isn’t always better when working to generate long-term impact. In my latest for the Pierce Public Relations blog, I share five reasons why large companies should consider hiring specialized, boutique PR and communications agencies that prioritize quality and expertise over scale.

🌟 Marketing Communication vs. Public Relations: What’s the Difference? Many people wonder about the differences between Marketing Communication and Public Relations. While both are essential in shaping a brand’s image, their goals and methods vary significantly: 🔹 Marketing Communication (MarCom): • Focused on promoting products or services to drive business growth and sales. • It encompasses tools like advertising, direct marketing, digital marketing, and content marketing, all aimed at potential customers. • The messaging is centered around product benefits and the customer experience, with the primary aim of generating revenue. 🔹 Public Relations (PR): • Centers on building relationships between the brand and its stakeholders (media, the public, employees, investors). • The goal is to strengthen the brand’s reputation and credibility through earned media, thought leadership, and event management. • PR focuses on the brand’s story and fostering trust, rather than directly driving sales. While Marketing Communication is focused on selling, Public Relations is about creating trust and long-term goodwill. The combination of both strategies helps to establish a brand that is not only visible but also valued. 💡 When effectively integrated, both disciplines contribute to a strong and impactful brand presence. #MarketingCommunication #PublicRelations #BrandStrategy #Communications #PR

🌟 Marketing vs. Public Relations: What's the difference? 🌟 Ever wondered about the distinction between Marketing and Public Relations (PR)? They might seem similar, but they serve different purposes in business strategy! 🔸 Marketing focuses on understanding customer needs, developing strategies to boost sales and profits, and building long-term customer relationships. It involves market research, digital marketing, and consumer studies to achieve these goals. 🔹 On the other hand, Public Relations (PR) is all about managing a company's reputation and image. It involves building and maintaining relationships with the public, including customers, investors, and the media. PR handles press releases, crisis management, and effective communication with the public and media. In summary, Marketing drives sales and profit growth, while PR focuses on managing relationships and public perception. Both fields often work hand in hand to achieve overall business objectives. 🚀💼 #Marketing #PublicRelations #BusinessStrategy

Hiring a #PR firm is a significant decision for your business, and it’s important to choose one that aligns with your goals and values. But it can be difficult to drill down and decipher actual differences between agencies. After all, most of them provide the same types of services, right? Perhaps, but most agencies have their own “way” of doing things, and you should understand each one’s approach. Here are some questions you can ask during the sales process to identify differentiating factors between agencies and find the right fit for your company: 1. What is the full scope of services that the agency provides? 2. What is your experience and track record for clients similar to ours? 3. Who will I actually work with at the agency? 4. What do your client communications and reporting entail? 5. What does success look like? 6. How much do you cost? 7. Do our values and culture align?
