The mineralised pegmatite system that comprises Latin Resources Limited's Colina Deposit is primarily composed of spodumene, feldspar, and quartz, and is located within a structural corridor that extends over an extensive strike length ~2.7km from northeast to southwest. The latest Colina MRE update has increased the total resource base by 11% from 63.5Mt to 70.9Mt and increased contained #Lithium Carbonate Equivalent from 2.05Mt to 2.20Mt. #LRS's MRE reflected the high levels of confidence in both the geological continuity and grade of the Colina pegmatites. Compositional zoning can provide valuable information on mineralising processes. Not always is it as clearly visible as in these #weeklyreflections showing an outer rim of magnetite (brown) surrounding a core of chromite (darker grey, few brownish internal reflections) and an intermediate zone. Minor sulphides, including chalcopyrite (yellow) and pyrite (pale yellow) are present in and around the magnetite. Porphyry copper deposits result from hydrothermal mineralization. Fluids emanating from an intrusive body precipitate metal-rich minerals within the host rock. - These systems often contain (anhydrite) in the veined mineral assemblage, alongside other minerals like (quartz, pyrite, and chalcopyrite). - The (Boulder batholith) in Montana exemplifies this complex system. It hosts various mineral deposit types, including: - Cretaceous silver-polymetallic vein districts in the north. - Cretaceous gold-silver-polymetallic veins overlaid by Paleocene porphyry copper-molybdenum stockwork deposits (a network of structurally controlled or randomly oriented veins) and copper lodes in the south. - Unmined porphyry copper-molybdenum deposits of unknown age and origin. - Historic skarn deposits in the Elkhorn Mountains.

I am excited to share a video of a 3D structure of shale created by FIB-SEM and 3D reconstruction. Where green indicates organic matter, red indicates pores and yellow indicates high density minerals. Global importance of the potential raw material resource in Greenland? The excellent review by GEUS from last year (https://lnkd.in/dw78NXYR) highlights Greenland's significant potential as a source of Critical Raw Materials, focusing on areas like Gardar, East Greenland, southern West Greenland, and North-West Greenland. Notable deposits include Ilímaussaq, Malmbjerg, Sarfartoq, and the Thule black sands province. The review underscores the possibility of undiscovered deposits in underexplored regions, presenting opportunities for critical minerals essential for various industries, including rare earth elements, lithium, molybdenum, platinum group metals, titanium, vanadium, tungsten, tin, antimony, and phosphorus. In our view, the raw material resource potential in Greenland could hold significant future global importance for various reasons that impact us all: Follow us: https://lnkd.in/dZKutJR9. Read more:

Trinex Minerals Limited has identified numerous spodumene-bearing pegmatite outcrops and boulders in the northern half of the Halo-Yuri Project in Canada, presenting high-priority walk-up drill targets. The terrain in the northern area is flat-lying tundra dominated by glacial till, boulder fields, marshes, and lakes. #Spodumene-bearing pegmatite encountered was typically as boulders, with 278 mineralised boulders observed, and 24 mineralised outcrops mapped. See below for #TX3's photographs of the spodumene in pegmatites and also a representation of this terrain. Discover more: https://loom.ly/f-jI9h8 #TrinexMinerals #Lithium #ASX

A snapshot into the complexities of lithium-bearing pegmatites… check out this false-colour map of oscillatory-zoned zircon seemingly truncated by columbite and intergrown with our favourite Li-bearing mineral, spodumene. The closer you look, the more you see! What interesting textures or accessory minerals have you observed in pegmatites? RARE EARTH MINERALS - The Good, The Bad, and The ? There are three general groupings of rare earth deposits in production today; intrusive-hosted, secondary heavy mineral detrital concentrations and mixed layer clays with elemental rare earth metals ionically bound to them. Subsets of each of them have unique mineralogical profiles. Carbonatites generally contain bastnaesite mineralization. Many alkaline intrusives contain eudialyte with a few lesser ones containing allanite. Eudialyte is a great example of presenting extremely large resources with no success to date of extraction (think of the Greenland deposits). So are eudialyte, allanite and some others good, bad, or ugly? To date they are ugly. Trying to think out of the box, I have directed my efforts to something else; something different; something truly unique. There is one more group of rare earth deposits, seldom recognized, constituting a tremendously large rare earth resource. This is the type known as pelagic basin sediment-hosted rare earth deposits of the Minamitorishima type which are currently being developed by Japan, China (of course) and a few select others. I am watching this space very closely … while sipping my mocha latte this morning. In TREO Veritas.

A well-optimized mineral library can make wonders for automated mineralogy mapping! Check this example of a carbonate-chalcopyrite vein, where iron content diminishes progressively. The carbonates transition from Fe-rich Ankerite (Ank-Fe), to Ankerite (Ank), and Calcite (Cal), filling the final voids in the vein alongside Chalcopyrite (Ccp), illustrating a fluid pathway with decreasing iron leading to chalcopyrite mineralization. The image also shows potassic alteration in the form of Biotite (Bt) in areas of higher fluid flow (e.g. grain/vein boundaries), and K-feldspar (Ksp) in areas of lower fluid flow within albitized metasedimentary host-rock. Sample from somewhere in South Australia.
