Born to a drug-addicted mother and never knowing her father, Simone Biles faced incredible challenges, moving through several foster homes before being adopted by her grandparents. In her debut at the Rio 2016 Olympics, she captivated the world with her extraordinary talent and leadership. Despite revealing in 2018 that she had endured abuse by team doctor Larry Nassar, and later facing a crisis of depression and anxiety during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Simone found the strength within herself to step back, heal, and return even stronger to shine at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Her journey reminds us that true strength comes from within, allowing us to rise above any obstacle. Never lose faith in yourself! #LatinaProfessionals #MujerInspiration #InnerStrength

Whew! What a strange take. Rather than call her mother drug addicted, there was an opportunity to humanize her by saying her mother "struggled with substance abuse." Additionally, this is an opportunity to showcase the diversity in our Latino/a/e community. I don't exclude Belizeans from the pan-ethnic identity. It was once part of Honduras 😉

I have to say this was beyond an odd read. Simone Biles' story is one of hardship, strength, and resilience, yet this narrative seems to be framed as mere clickbait. Reducing her painful experiences, including her struggles with abuse, mental health, and a difficult upbringing, to a story of "never losing faith in yourself" oversimplifies and trivializes the complexity of her journey.

Jesus! This is by far one of the worst posts I’ve seen in any social media app! She still loves her mother despite her challenges! She is a gem and her talent is amazing! If you put yourself in her shoes, she could even sue you for saying those things about her mother. Shame on you! For this and other reasons I’ve stopped following this group! 🤮

I didn’t know she was Latina. I’m Haitian I wonder what her language and cultural background is?
