Tech Founder @ whatifi.io and VFX Leadership | Data-Driven Decision Making | Raising Angel Investment
"Without data, you are just an idiot with an opinion". This morning, as I was driving my kids to school, I heard this quote on the My First Million podcast. I'm a big fan of Sam Parr, Shaan Puri and MFM. I even had the chance to pitch them live, on stage, in front of 1,000+ people when they were in Vancouver awhile back (for the record - I completely crashed and burned)..... 🛬 🔥 🔥 🚬 ☠ I got laughed off stage. The way I pitched the product didn't click with the value it offered. They didn't get it. And I was embarrassed. Positioning is monumentally hard. As a tech founder, we often get caught up in features and lose sight of why those features exist. I can run 1,000 "what if" business scenarios, capacity, cash flow, fundraising, pricing, growth and churn... in under 26 seconds. AI. Integrations. Connect your Hubspot or Quickbooks account. Big f'ning deal.... But this quote - this is what it is all about. The visceral need. Making decisions and influencing the decision makers - with clarity and confidence and conviction. Without looking like an ass hat.

🚨New Episode Alert!🚨 In this episode of UpYourStack Podcast, host Noah Berk, co-founder of obo. interviews Richard White, the founder of Fathom - AI Meeting Assistant. 🔥Take-aways🔥 ➡️ Bet on Tech Fathom made a strategic bet that AI and transcription technologies would improve dramatically, allowing them to build infrastructure around these capabilities rather than developing them in-house. ➡️ Product-led Growth (PLG) Fathom adopted a freemium model contrasting with big competitors' high-priced models allowing for viral adoption and low customer acquisition costs. ➡️ Hypothesis-Driven startups Richard emphasized the importance of having clear hypotheses about how the market will evolve, rather than constantly reacting to short-term stimuli. ➡️ Extensibility and Customization Fathom is making their product more extensible for users to customize AI outputs and share templates so they can foster community engagement. ➡️ Differentiation through infrastructure By building their own infrastructure (e.g., meeting bots, video streaming servers) Fathom was able to reduce costs and offer more competitive pricing, similar to how Twitch gained an advantage in the streaming market. 🤔Where to find it?🤔 Right here👇👇👇 Website - https://lnkd.in/eGx4NnjW YouTube Video - https://lnkd.in/e7k9FxwP YouTube Audio - https://lnkd.in/e_j2_CGH Spotify - https://lnkd.in/echKxxwv Apple Podcasts - https://lnkd.in/e7ggnKqT #AI #Productivity #InnovativeSolutions #TechTalk #TechStartup #AIRevolution #ProductivityHacks #FoundersStory #BusinessGrowth #Innovation #Tech

One of the scariest moments at any startup is moving from founder-led sales to building a sales team that can scale. So much can go wrong, and it can stop your momentum dead. Don't worry though, I have the perfect resource for you. Matt Plank and Matt Loop have built and scaled some of the world’s most elite sales teams at top tier companies like Slack, LinkedIn, Salesforce, and Rippling. They joined me on The Startup Podcast a couple of months back to share hard-won nuggets on how to build a global sales team that can actually, well, sell. And now that wisdom has been distilled into a concise eBook, courtesy of our wonderful friends at Rippling. Simply comment "Scale me" below and I'll send you a download link.

#100DaysStartuptoSuccess - Week 5 Summary 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬. Work more on the demand side vs delivery. With some of the basic assets in place my focus has shifted to capturing more demand. "𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚, 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆" Sun Tzu The Art of War No point building out more and more assets until you can get a predictable stream of leads and clients. Find people who you can offer value to and ways to share that. WINS: Webinar signups were 260 (way above industry averages) Created paid advert copy for A/B testing Speaking opportunity Podcast booking Met some potential collaboration partners at a startup event CHALLENGES: Worrying over a lack of systems (I like systems as they help efficiency) Multiple "unfinished" items in my head Running too many "hypothesis" at once I’m sharing all the raw, real steps of building a business in public.
