My top resolution for 2024 is to become a better person. It's not to make more money. It's not to grow my business. It's not to scale followers. Those are all secondary. I want to be kinder. I want to be more generous. I want to be more conscious and present. A better person for others, for the world and for myself. What we think matters. What we say matters. What we do matters. If I can become a better person at all those levels, that'll be a win. And if I fail, I'll take the learnings with me. I've learned not to be attached to the results. Enjoy the process instead. Saying goodbye hurts. I’m preparing for a trip to Plymouth this weekend to see my daughter who’s at Uni and honour the anniversary of my Dad’s passing. I guarantee I’ll be crying when its time to part ways. I find goodbyes tough. 😭😭 It was the same in my former cleaning business - bidding farewell to clients who we felt weren’t a good fit for us, was hard, I would agonise and lose sleep over it 😫. In the early days , I’d said yes to every client, believing it was the right thing to do. You didn’t turn away clients! 🤣 But as my biohazard services grew and attracted high value consistent work, I just knew we’d outgrown our smaller contracts. Letting go wasn’t easy but to continue our growth it was necessary . 🤔 I never imagined I’d turn down contracts - but doing so allowed us to replace the low value work with higher ticket specialist cleaning. And whilst I worried and stressed over it, as you do when your a business owner, the result was it transformed my cleaning business profits and proved to be the best decision. Goodbyes are still tough for me, but I understand how they pave the way for new opportunities and growth. #businessgrowthstrategy #goodbye #specialistcleaning

Do your potential customers LIKE you? (Remember, they need to Know, Like and Trust you) The easiest way to explain this one is to compare Chick-fil-A with McDonalds. People actually like going to Chick-fil-A, even though the wait may be a little longer, the cost may be a little higher, but daggum the people are so nice! The place is clean, and (typically) everyone is working with a smile on their face. Now, go to McDonalds and see if you get the same level of service. Not always, but sometimes they're rude, forget half your order and almost never smile. You go there because the food is cheap and quick. Ask yourself which of those your business aligns with in your industry.

Once you mature past the fun stage, often when you’ve invested more time and/or money than you would a hobby, you start to bootstrap. I started reading a new business book and the foreword it had this extract which was referring to different growth stages in your business 👇 I’m not sure about the 12 people bit but I was chatting with one of my business partners Shannon Bennett a few weeks back and we both agreed we missed the days that when something needed to be done you stopped in and wine 🍷 out of tea cups and pizza 🍕 or kebab were the fuel to get the job done. The book suggests that this was part of a growth phase, I thought it was just times changing with how people worked and wanted to interact. The work and hours at times was stressful but we had some laughs along the way. #business #fuelyourteam #growth

If you apply this, people will listen. Many people want to talk about everything in their business in one video. That’s like trying spaghetti with sushi and tacos. Doesn’t work. Use one video to and give them tacos 🌮 (one aspect of your business) And then another video with sushi 🍣 and so on.
