Filling in the gaps of mental health care is a big part of what we do here. If you are not familiar with our Polaris Program, Polaris provides wraparound services for individuals who are transitioning out of restrictive environments (such as jails and hospitalizations). The Polaris team supports participants in navigating the Washington County judicial system, behavioral health systems, housing, and connections with community resources upon transitioning back into the community. Peer Specialists partner with participants having co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders to overcome barriers in building supportive relationships and assist with integration back into the community and judicial system. The aim of the program is to promote overall stabilization while navigating the legal system and support individuals as they transition into becoming their own best advocate. Program Manager Lynne Dodson is proud of the work their team is doing to bring options for these participants. The program is so successful that other counties piloting similar programs are reaching out to Lynne and Polaris for information and advice. Here’s what Lynne has to say about the interest of other counties in their program: "This feels extremely gratifying for all the hard work we've done to build the success of the Polaris program and to now be asked to demonstrate how we work to other pilot sites...Feeling pretty proud, humbled, and grateful to be a part of something so big that we're making such a direct impact on people's lives." It’s Friday of National Public Health Week – let’s look at behavioral health services in North County. Despite a remarkable 596% increase in Marriage & Family Therapists employed since 2012, there's still a significant shortage of behavioral health workers. According to a 2022 report by San Diego Workforce Partnership, California's behavioral health workforce can only meet about a quarter of its need. SDNEDC investors TURN Behavioral Health Services, Palomar Health, Tri-City Medical Center, The Elizabeth Hospice and TrueCare are actively working to address this challenge. TURN Behavioral/Mental Health Systems (with 12 service centers in North County and a mission to reduce disparities in behavioral healthcare delivery) is leading the charge with innovative services focused on mental health, supportive housing, substance use disorders, and justice-involved individuals. Palomar Health and Tri-City Medical Center are expanding access to care by building new behavioral health hospitals, while The Elizabeth Hospice provides essential support and comfort to individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses. TrueCare provides access to mental health services at 5 North County community clinics spanning Oceanside, San Marcos, and Encinitas. As the demand for behavioral health services continues to grow, these SDNEDC investors and other healthcare providers remain committed to bridging the gap and ensuring that everyone in North County has access to the care they need. #NPHW #behavioralhealth #sandiegohealth North County Industry Clusters: https://lnkd.in/gRA5XkR8 San Diego Workforce Study: https://lnkd.in/gv879CJM

Seriously. What do you want in a job? Most therapists seek three things: 1) An agency that aligns with your personal and professional values. 2) An environment where you can continue to learn and grow as a therapist. 3) A climate that is rich with meaning and purpose. CenterPointe Counseling and Recovery is a small, locally owned agency that offers Intensive Outpatient Programs in Sarasota, Venice and Pt. Charlotte in three 3-hour sessions per week. To succeed, you must love seeing folks early in recovery walk in the door, anxious and beaten up by addiction and co-occurring disorders. Watching them slowly but surely they find acceptance, optimism and tools for hope. Finding their way back self-esteem and the joy they lost. It's hard work, but at CenterPointe you will find the cheerful administrative support and inspired leadership you need to help your clients succeed.

Content Developer & Strategist Specializing in Healthcare | Connecting with audiences through stories that resonate and inform
My new article for APEA's NP Insider Blog focuses on the career outlook for psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioners. Although the number of academic programs preparing new PMHNPs is increasing, more are needed. As Abby McNeil, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC told me, "The psychiatric provider shortage is having a direct impact on our communities. We need to provide a pipeline of educated PMHNPs to improve access to mental health care in underserved areas." Access the full article via the post below. #mentalhealth #pmhnp #nursepractitioners
The demand for NPs who specialize in psychiatric-mental health continues to climb — and so do the job openings and salaries. APEA just published a comprehensive look at this important NP role. Our exclusive 2025 Career Outlook for PMHNPs shares new information and data that illustrate why the nation needs more NPs to develop expertise in mental health. Could you be part of this solution? https://hubs.la/Q02TrMLf0 #nursepractitioner #advancedpractice #advancedmedicine #primarycare #nplife #futurenp #npstudent
